Fallout 4 companions have an important lesson to teach Elder Scrolls 6

As Sole Survivor explores the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Commonwealth in Fallout 4 Effectthey are accompanied by a series of companions. This motley crew not only serves as support in a fight, but also contributes to the game by providing information about the world around them. However, Fallout 4 Effectcompanions contrast sharply with those offered in the Ancient Scrolls titleswho have a very different view from their fellow players. But with Elder Scrolls 6 On the horizon, there are some lessons he can learn Fallout 4 Effect when it comes to followers.

Followers or companions have been an essential part of both Ancient Scrolls series and Precipitation since its earliest days. Although the companions were present in all Precipitation game, it wasn't until Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind that followers were first introduced and have remained largely unchanged in their functions since. However, while Ancient Scrolls followers remained static pack mules, Precipitation companions evolved into something better which could be easily replicated in Elder Scrolls 6.

Elder Scrolls Past Followers Aren't As Memorable As Fallout 4 Companions

Lydia, Cicero, J'zargo and Mjoll from Skyrim.

For a world as vast and rich in knowledge as Ancient ScrollsIt's a little disappointing how flat the followers are. Although there are some that stand out in the three main titles they appeared in, such as SkyrimLike Cicero, Mjoll the Lioness, or Serana, most disappear and melt into memory, with nothing special to keep them engraved in people's minds. This is significantly different from fellow Fallout 4 Effect, they are all memorable and even have their own fan bases within the greater Precipitation community.

SkyrimFollowers were a big step up from those seen on Oblivion or Morrowindbut with around 60 potential humanoid followers, only a few are truly noteworthy. And, with so many followers available, the end result is characters of much lower quality, with many of them spouting generic lines that could be applied to any random NPC. Skyrim Followers then become little more than pack mules, judged by their fighting prowess and how often they block doors rather than anything meaningful related to the world they inhabit.

For the next Ancient Scrolls game, it would be a good idea to check out the Fallout 4 Effect companions to see what makes them so special. When examining what makes teammates Fallout 4 Effect different and comparing this to other recent RPG successes, one can see a clear pattern that the Elder Scrolls 6 need to imitate. There are also some great examples of Skyrim modding community that clearly demonstrates the types of teammates/followers fans expect to see in the future Ancient Scrolls installments.

What makes Fallout 4 companions tick

Distinct personalities, personal missions and better romances

The main thing that defines Fallout 4 Effectcompanions besides Ancient Scrolls followers is that, in Fallout 4 Effectcompanions feel part of the world. They have their lives and goals and if the Sole Survivor never achieves them, It's not hard to imagine them still having lives and working towards those goals independently. Simply put, they feel like real people who simply cross paths with the protagonist, rather than props to be discarded and forgotten.

Each of the 16 Fallout 4 Effect companions have their own likes and dislikes, their views on the world and loyalties that go beyond the Sole Survivor. There's no mistaking MacCready for Preston, or confusing Piper and Cait. Beyond their physical appearance, the way each companion behaves on missions, their thoughts on the Sole Survivor's decisions, and even their reasons for traveling with them are all wonderfully unique. While some are loved while others are hated by the fanbase, these opinions only exist because the characters left an impression.

Knowing which quests are best to take companions with, how to gain affinity with them for companion perks, and how to complete your personal companion quests are the most common talking points when discussing Fallout 4 Effect companions. Understanding them, their stories and preferences is important and is only possible because they were written as fully realized characters. Elder Scrolls 6 needs to look at this and at least adopt some aspects, as some of the most successful recent RPGs owe at least part of their success to the strength of their companions.

Looking at Fallout 4 and other RPG series offers clues

When looking for examples of good Ancient Scrolls followers, many in the fanbase will point to Serana, who is often called the best Skyrim follower. It's not hard to see why, as she's more carefully crafted than the others, with a more developed backstory and personality, and is genuinely interesting compared to the copy-and-paste housecarls and mercenaries. In truth, many of the most memorable Skyrim Followers have quests tied to them or play important roles in their faction's questline like Aela, Vilkas and Farkas, or J'zargo.

The five most endorsed custom follower mods currently on Nexus Mods for Skyrim Special Edition they are Inigo, Sofia, Lucien, Auri and Vilja. Each of these personalized Skyrim companions is fully voiced, has a fully developed story, views on the world separate from the Dragonborn, and in many cases, their own personal quests. A major selling point for many custom followers is that they are “mission conscious”passing commentary on player actions, locations, and in some cases even playing with other custom companions.

These modified followers follow a pattern often seen in BioWare games, such as Dragon Age series and, more recently, in the huge success of Larian Studio Baldur's Gate 3. They are characters who happen to be companions rather than existing solely as combat support or to transport loot. They linger long after the game is completed because of its writing and the care put into crafting every detail to help them come to life and matter to the player.

Followers for Elder Scrolls 6 they need better quests, to have reactions to actions and the world around them based on likes and dislikes, and more in-depth romance options. The affinity system in Fallout 4 Effect makes interacting with companions more rewarding and organic rather than simply running out of dialogue options, and would be an excellent addition to future Ancient Scrolls games. The focus should be on quality rather than quantity with some basic quality of life adjustments, like being able to dismiss them to a specific location to find a good balance between Fallout 4 Effectsystem and what came before in Ancient Scrolls.
