Fable 4 could be taking a big cue from The Witcher 3, according to Insider

Very little is still known about Fable 4 but based on an insider’s report, could be taking inspiration from one of the best RPGs of the last decade. Playground Games has been keeping its cards close to its chest as it has revealed very little of its long-awaited fantasy game beyond a few fun trailers. A few glimpses into the game’s systems were highlighted, but overall, most of what was shown focuses on the world and cast of eccentric characters.

Talking about the Xbox Two podcastWindows Central journalist Jez Corden explained that he recently saw alpha footage of Fable 4noting that the combat system felt very similar to CD Projekt Red The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.

Corden explains that Playground Games hired the combat designer who worked on The Witcher 3suggesting that the similarities between the games are evident. Perhaps most reassuringly, the journalist also exclaimed that the initial construction he saw was “fantastic“, giving fans hope that Fable 4 can maintain the level.

Fable’s combat has never been the best

It was good, but never great

It makes sense that Fable 4 may be repeating the combat used to The Witcher 3: The system seen in the original Fable trilogy also remembers The wild hunt. With a combination of melee attacks and magical abilities, the connection is obvious, but what matters is whether Playground Games can repeat the established mechanics. FableThe combat was never the star of the show; While it may have been a decent part of the gameplay, older games are more fondly remembered for their stories and world-building.

Fablethe usual combat had the problem of being a little too floatyas if the players’ blows didn’t have the kind of impact they should. Once some of the game’s most powerful spells are introduced, most combat encounters become trivial, becoming a nuisance rather than a challenge. The Witcher 3 It’s also been criticized for having rather repetitive combat, so we can only hope that Playground can bring out the best of both systems to create something new and exciting.

Fable 4 has a lot to prove

I hope it doesn’t disappoint

Fable is undeniably one of Microsoft’s most recognized video game franchises and its prolonged dormancy means there’s a lot riding on the fourth inning. The game has been in development for some time and I’m optimistic that Playground can deliver a satisfying RPG with all the humor and wit of the original titles. Until more is shown, it is difficult to make bold claims, even with the positive reports.
