The 2025 movie year is almost here, and Screen Rant is proud to present exclusive looks at 24 upcoming titles. The last few years for Hollywood have not gone as expected between the pandemic and strikes that shut down productions and delayed releases. But 2025 looks to be a cinematic year that will give audiences plenty of films to see. This includes some big box office hits like Captain America: Brave New World and Jurassic World Rebirthreleasing in theaters, as well as Back in action and Star Trek: Section 31 debuting on streaming services.

As 2024 closes, Screen Rant's 2025 movie preview turns the focus to next year. Gerard Butler's Big Nick goes bad

Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr. are back in action in 2025 with their sequel Den of Thieves. The sequel to the original action film puts a twist on the first film by having Big Nick and Donnie Wilson go from enemies to partners. This is part Den of Thieves 2: PantherBig Nick's twist goes against the law to help Donnie pull off another heist. Donnie Yen headlines a new action movie

Fresh off his memorable performance as Cain in John Wick: Chapter 4Donnie Yen is back in the action genre as the star and director of The promoter. The film revolves around a prosecutor, played by Yen, who decides to help a defendant who has been wrongfully accused, putting his career at risk. Unstoppable – January 16, 2025

A true story wrestling movie starring Jharrel Jerome

Not to be confused with the Denzel Washington and Chris Pine train action film of the same name, 2025 Unstoppable is an autobiographical wrestling film about the life of Anthony Robles, who was born with only one leg and became an NCAA champion. The film, heading exclusively to Prime Video in January after a limited theatrical release, stars Jharrel Jerome as Anthony Robles, with Jennifer Lopez playing his mother and Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Michael Peña also appearing. Alarum – January 17, 2025

Scott Eastwood gets in on the action with Sylvester Stallone

Scott Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone headline a new action film in 2025, Alarm. The Lionsgate film revolves around two spies, played by Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald (Dear stranger), who rebel to get married. Back in action – January 17, 2025

Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz headline Netflix action film

Back in action It's a big return for Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in 2025. After his health scare, Foxx is back and starring in a big action comedy for Netflix. About that, Back in action is Cameron Diaz's first film since 2014. They play a couple who are former spies and are forced to return to the world they left behind. Wolf Man receives a new interpretation in 2025 from filmmaker Leigh Whannell. After your work updating another Universal Monster with The Invisible Man in 2020, Wolf Man puts more personal focus on the horror character. Centered on a family featuring Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner, the husband's sudden transformation into a monster puts his family in danger. The film stars Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) and Mena Massoud (Aladdin). The story revolves around her helping him enjoy the last days of his life, as he is terminally ill. Old Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor continues to expand into new genres after tackling the erotic thriller Fair play in 2023. 2025 sees Dynevor jump into the world of espionage as she plays the daughter of a spy in Heritagea new film from director Neil Burger (Unlimited, Divergent). Star Trek: Section 31 – January 24, 2025

Michelle Yeoh returns to the Star Trek universe

Four years after leaving Star Trek: Discovery After the third season, Michelle Yeoh returns to the sci-fi franchise for a spin-off film, Star Trek: Section 31. She reprises her role as Philippa Georgiou, as the character has joined Starfleet Section 31. The film, releasing exclusively on Paramount+, is set in the “lost era” between the Star Trek: The Original Series films and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Everyone's favorite bear is back

Ben Whishaw's lovable, marmalade-loving bear is back in 2025 with Paddington in Peru. The third entry in the acclaimed live-action/CGI franchise takes Paddington on another unexpected, laugh-filled adventure. There's plenty of news to offer viewers of the third installment, with Olivia Colman, Emily Mortimer and Antonio Banderas joining the cast, along with Paul King not returning to direct. Daisy Ridley teams up with a James Bond vet for an action film

While we wait for Daisy Ridley's return as Rey in Star Warsshe continues to show her versatility as a performer, getting more into the action scene. Cleaner pairs the actress with Martin Campbell, who has directed the Bond films GoldenEye and Royal Casinofor an original action film. Ridley stars as a former soldier who tries to save a group of Shard hostages after discovering one of them is her brother. Cooper Hoffman is an assassin in training

After working with Paul Thomas Anderson on Licorice Pizza and Jason Reitman in Saturday nightCooper Hoffman is trying to break into the world of action films with Old. The film stars Christoph Waltz as an assassin hired to help train a protégé played by Hoffman. However, the mission goes awry when Watlz's character suspects that Hoffman's prodigy assassin is secretly working to exterminate all older assassins like him. Uppercut – February 28, 2025

Ving Rhames trains a younger boxer in new film

In addition to returning as Luther Stickell in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning in 2025, Ving Rhames headlines boxing drama Uppercut. Written and directed by Torsten Ruether, the film follows Elliott de Rhames and the bond he forms with a young female boxer played by Luise Großmann. Michael B. Jordan Plays Two Roles in Ryan Coogler's Horror Film

Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler have been collaborators since 2013 Fruitvale Stationand after approaching IP with Belief and Black Panther, Sinners marks a return to original cinema for the duo. The film features a large cast around Jordan, who plays twin brothers, with Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Blood), Hailee Steinfeld (Hawkeye), Jack O'Connell (Uninterrupted) and others configured to appear. Boys Star Jack Quaid Becomes a New Kind of Action Hero

Jack Quaid will have a great 2025, including his starring role in Paramount's action thriller, Novocaine. He stars as a man who is unable to feel pain due to a rare disease and embarks on a mission to save his kidnapped girlfriend. With Quaid getting the chance to take on a bigger action role after years The boys and Prey breakout Amber Midthunder playing his girlfriend, the new film Villains directors Den Berk and Robert Olsen look incredible. Gal Gadot's Evil Queen takes center stage with new image

Rachel Zegler is the lead star of Disney's live-action reimagining of Snow White, who is set to be released in 2025, but Gal Gadot is also part of the ensemble as the main villain, the Evil Queen. The first Wonder Woman star swaps his DC superhero role for an iconic Disney villain performance that includes musical performances. A new era of Karate Kid combines the past

THE Karate Kid franchise is back on the big screen in 2025 for the first time in 15 years with Karate Kid: Legends. The film mixes two seemingly different iterations of the series, with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) meeting for the first time.
