Evil Dead 2 RPG Supplement Will Bring Blood, Sweat, and Fears to Your D&D Table

The iconic cult horror series evil Dead is getting its own tabletop RPG soon – and you can now contribute to a Kickstarter campaign to become an early adopter. Starting with the 1981 film of the same title, the evil Dead Since then, the franchise has spawned two direct sequels, two additional standalone films, and has another release, Evil Dead Burnon the way. A pioneer in the horror-comedy genre, the series has become synonymous with a unique blend of practical effects mastery, over-the-top gore, and irreverent humor, ensuring lasting popularity and spawning countless imitators.

And now, players can create their own grotesque, evil Dead– stories inspired by an official tabletop RPG supplementto be published by Lynnvander Studios and currently available for support on Kickstarter. Expected to be released in June 2025, The Evil Dead 2 RPG Supplement is based on the 5e system, the current edition of Dungeons and Dragons. Developed by a team that includes designers of board games based on cult classic horror films such as Reanimator, Army of Darknessit is clear, Evil Dead 2the TTRPG is clearly in good hands. Designer Devin Wilson also serves as DM for the crossover D&D real game series Legacy of the Worlds.

The Evil Dead 2 RPG Supplement was designed for insertion into any game D&Dbut it can also be used to create a completely original dark fantasy (or even modern horror) campaign. It's already surpassed its funding goal and more, but there's still time to contribute and receive updates on the project as they launch. Before the game's release, TelaRant received an exclusive preview of some game mechanics and one of the character classes – decidedly evil Dead twist on the classic D&D cleric – along with the stat block of Henrietta Knowby, a human-turned-monster who appeared in the films.

A preview of the new mechanics of The Evil Dead TTRPG

Sycophantic domain clerics, limb loss, and more

The Evil Dead 2 RPG SupplementThe game's centerpiece is its 12 new character subclasses, each of which puts a uniquely gruesome spin on a classic. D&D archetype. One of them is the cleric of the Flattering Domain. Unlike most D&D cleric domains, which typically require the player to choose a patron deity at character creation, the cleric of the Sicofanta Domain worships any god who will listen.

This unique concept makes them especially versatile and especially volatile. For example, clerics of the Flattery Domain receive a certain number of spells always prepared, depending on their level; at higher levels, they can even use bard, druid, and warlock spell lists. But when they use Call the Fickle Whims, they have a random chance to cast anyone bless or curse depending on the result of two dice rolls.

New mechanic introduced by The RPG Evil Dead 2 Supplement include loss of limbscentral theme of evil Dead series. It does what it says on the tin, increasing the chance of certain attacks cutting off one of the target's extremities. The supplement also includes stat blocks for several items introduced by the film series, such as the Kandarian Dagger, which deals damage over time when impaled on its target and can prevent them from being revived.

And of course, players will need equally terrifying monsters to test out all these new powers. To type Henrietta Knowby, character from evil Dead films adapted here for an incredibly powerful Deadite enemy to challenge and terrify players everywhere.

Henrietta possesses shape-shifting abilities and powerful powers of deceptionso she can trick a group into helping her before attacking them with her sharp claws. She can also experience a version of Limb Loss, as the slashing damage diminishes her available appendages, thus reducing the number of melee attacks she can make per turn. (However, his severed hands may have a mind of their own). When she is reduced to 0 HP, she returns to life in her true form with a hideously elongated neck and can heal herself by reattaching her limbs.

Our opinion: Evil Dead and D&D are a perfect match

(And we mean that in the nicest way possible)

Maybe I'm exactly the target audience for something like this, not to mention I'm a dark fantasy fanatic. D&D campaign, but evil Dead and D&D seem to match perfectly. Even in this preview, I'm impressed by the level of detail and the perfect atmosphere of comedy and horror embodied by The Evil Dead 2 RPG Supplement. Your involvement with Legacy of the WorldsIt is clear that the designers have a passion for the various environments they called D&D home. And from their involvement in other cult classic films turned board games, it's clear that this adaptation is in good hands.
