Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh stars Star Trek: Section 31and here's everything we know about Star TrekThe first film made for streaming. A spin-off of Star Trek: DiscoveryYeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, the former ruler of the Mirror Universe's Terran Empire who joined Starfleet's mysterious Section 31 in Star Trek: Discovery season 2. Star Trek: Section 31 was originally planned as an ongoing program, and in January 2019 development began on a Star Trek: Section 31 series, which was scheduled to film from May to November 2020.

Yeoh's character, Emperor Georgiou, was written from Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, to follow her on Section 31. However, the COVID-19 pandemic was stopped Section 31production. Yeoh's availability also impacted Section 31especially when she won the Oscar for Best Actress for Everything everywhere at the same time. However, Yeoh used his Oscar influence to put Section 31 in production, this time as a feature film to stream on Paramount+.

With the streaming film expected to arrive in January 2025, the latest news arrives in the form of a full film trailer to Section 31. Catching up with Michelle Yeoh's Emperor Philippa Georgiou, the trailer introduces her to Omari Hardwick's Alok, who attempts to recruit her into the titular branch of Starfleet. Willing to join the fight, Georgiou teams up with other agents to stop a galactic threat that could cost the lives of millions of people.. However, Section 31 does not do things the conventional way, much to the chagrin of more honest officers.

Star Trek: Section 31 has finally been placed on Paramount+'s streaming calendar, but it won't arrive until 2024. Instead, the Michelle Yeoh-led feature is now set to premiere on January 24, 2025. This comes almost five years after the project was first announced, although the release date is a good sign that the film will arrive on time and without further delays.

Joining Michelle Yeoh (who plays Philippa Georgiou) in Star Trek: Section 31The cast is made up of Sam Richardson, Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Rob Kazinsky, Sven Ruygrok, Humberly Gonzalez, James Hiroyuki Liao, Joe Pingue, Miku Martineau and Augusto Bitter. Rohl plays the younger version of Rachel Garrett, the doomed future captain of the USS Enterprise-Cwho was played by Tricia O'Neill in Star Trek: The Next Generation classic, “Yesterday's Company”.

Richardson plays the first chameloid shapeshifter seen since Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Countrywhile Humberly Gonzalez plays a Deltan (a race seen in Star Trek: The film). Meanwhile, Rob Kazinsky isn't playing a Borg, despite his character's cybernetic exo-suit, but no other details are known. Miku Martineau was chosen to play a younger version of Georgiou.

Highlighting more action than Star Trek fans are normally used to, Section 31'The trailer also evokes a central dilemma, as Emperor Georgiou's covert ops spy team comes into conflict with the morality upheld by Starfleet. Section 31The trailer presents the entire team that Georgiou assembles with the central characters appearing. It also shows intriguing flashbacks to Emperor Georgiou's bloody past, with young Philippa played by Miku Martineau.

With just a few weeks left until the film's premiere, Paramount released a full trailer to Star Trek: Section 31. Exciting trailer opens with Emperor Georgiou being recruited for a Section 31 mission that has galactic consequences. Teaming up with a ragtag group of other agents, Georgiou is willing to save others, but she'll do it the Section 31 way. In addition to showcasing the film's stylish visuals and explosive action, the trailer also gives a few more hints about the various alien races that will appear in the film.
