Every strategist character, ranked from worst to best

When choosing a strategist to complete the team composition Marvel Rivalssome options are better than others. With seven strategists in total, choosing who to spend time dominating is a difficult decision, especially because of the many fan-favorite characters that make up the role.

Fortunately, strategists in Marvel Rivals are fairly balanced, and at most levels of play, the rest of the team will certainly appreciate either choice. However, when compared to each other and seeking to maximize the value that a strategist can add to a team, There are factors that place some strategists directly above the rest in Marvel Rivals.

7

Jeff the land shark

Marvel Rivals Unanimous Mascot

The adorable land shark unfortunately finds itself in last place. It's important to note, despite his low rating, that Jeff is not a bad character. Similar to the solid balance of Vanguards in Marvel Rivals, none of the strategists is bad in the traditional sense, but provide less utility or healing potential to the rest of the team.

Pros

Cons

Jeff

  • A consistent source of healing

  • Powerful ending

  • Can escape easily

  • Zero utility

  • Easy to shoot in the head

  • No solution for the last ones

Jeff has an ult that can single-handedly eliminate teams as long as there's a cliff in sight, and it's also useful for his consistent healing. The reason for its low rating is its lack of usefulness and common harm. While Jeff can certainly see the game through, especially if a team needs a consistent source of healing, some characters achieve the same result but provide support in additional ways.

He doesn't have the potential to save dire situations easilywith your only option to increase enemy pressure being a well-timed final. However, this can be countered by listening closely to enemies, who can spread out to avoid a catastrophic Jeff ult.

6

Rocket Raccoon

Hypermobility and small size make the rocket difficult to defeat

Rocket Raccoon is a solid tactician who can deal a consistent amount of healing and damage. Ultimate Rockets, while not life-saving, can easily support a team during an offensive or defensive attack, with the Amplifier quickly becoming a priority target.

Cons

Rocket Raccoon

  • High healing potential

  • Good utility

  • Free revivals

  • Strong mobility

  • Small Hitbox

  • Projectile healing is slow

  • No solution for the last ones

One One of the benefits of Rocket is distractionwith two identifiable priority targets that require the enemy to spend time dealing with them. Its hitbox is also small and supported by high mobility options, making Racoon a challenge to pin down. In chokes, his AOE healing can also be a huge advantage, with the only downside being the slow nature of his heels.

When looking beyond Rocket's ability, he also has one of the most powerful team-ups with two of the strongest duelists, Winter Solider and the Punisher. Don't be deterred from playing Rocket for its relatively low rating. He is a solid choice, albeit with some situational caveats to his healing output due to his slow travel time.

5

Adam Wizard

The best blast healer in Marvel Rivals

Despite its three-star difficulty rating, Adam Warlock is a simple to use tactician who benefits greatly from this ease of use. Fights in Marvel Rivals it can get chaotic, which typically happens when deaths occur. Adam Warlock, however, stands out in these chaotic environments due to the fact that his primary support abilities are AOE and targeted.

Pros

Cons

Adam Wizard

★★★

  • Easier to use and more effective burst healing

  • Strong against diving characters

  • Hitscan damage

  • Some potential for explosion damage

  • Easy to misuse

  • No consistent source of healing

  • Limited usefulness without cure

In other words, Adam need not aim to heal; the cure itself can potentially target the entire team. Healing is also nothing to scoff at. It is one of the most effective sources of instant healing, perfect for situations where bursts of healing are needed.

Adam's Soul Bond is extremely useful when facing a diving comp. Combining teams' health bars makes it extraordinarily difficult for diving characters to get picks. Despite that, Adam is hindered by his limited healingwith the only pure source being a two-charge ability. Adam needs a pair of strategists who can compensate for this lack of consistency.

Requiring a second tactician isn't as bad as it seems, especially since the best team compositions in Marvel Rivals always have at least two healers.

4

Cloak and Dagger

Cancel Ultimates with ease

Cloak and Dagger is a character that didn't seem immediately powerful upon release. Form switching can be a nice benefit, but splitting healing and damage between two forms adds a clunky layer that can be deadly in tense situations.

In addition to the actual switching mechanics, its ease of use is quite highwith auto-targeting damage and lots of AOE heals. His ultimate can be quite effective with both offensive and defensive potential, and its utility, like Cloak's blind, can be useful to generate panic in enemies hit by it.

Cons

Cloak and Dagger

★★★

  • Extremely powerful utility

  • Useful end

  • Lots of tools for niche situations

  • A series of AOE healing skills

  • It can be tricky to make switches in hectic fights.

  • Splitting access to strong heals or strong damage can be detrimental.

However, Cloak and Dagger potentially has the strongest non-ultimate ability among strategists. Cloak's secondary attack, Dark Teleportationprovides nearby teammates complete invulnerability on a 12 second cooldown. This ability alone bumps Cloak and Dagger up the list.

Some characters whose Dark Teleportation ultimates can cancel are Groot, Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Jeff.

Typically, ultimates are needed to cancel other ultimates. For example, a final Luna effectively shuts down multiple enemies through her healing aura. Cloak and Dagger, however, can negate ultimates with Dark Teleportation. If timed correctly, it can be used to allow a team to completely avoid ultimates, generating huge value for the team.

3

Loki

Deception and Deception

Befitting your trickster deity, Loki is one of the most slippery strategists to try to kill. With stealth, illusion switching, and an oppressive AoE healing field, Loki can persist against these odds.

Pros

Cons

Loki

★★★★

  • Among the greatest harm and healing potential

  • Hard to kill

  • Strong against diving

  • AoE damage and healing

  • High final potential

  • Can be countered if enemies target skills

  • Difficult to play

  • Ultimate can be tricky to use in hectic situations

Loki has some of the highest damage and healing potential in the game, although getting to that point requires setup and maintaining it requires precise illusion locations. Just like Rocket, Loki can cause a huge mental pileup with his illusions, which can absorb enemy damage and priority.

It also thrives against diving charactersthe typical counterattack to strategists. Its healing field, if the rune is not targeted, provides near-invulnerability to the team. This shares the extremely beneficial trait of Cloak and Dagger Dark Teleportationallowing Loki to nullify not only enemy dive characters, but also certain ultimates for himself and his teammates.

Aside from non-curative utility, Loki has it all. If your illusions are not resolved, which is easier to achieve when using Loki's illusion ability effectively, his AoE healing and damage are consistent, strong, and useful regardless of the situation.

2

praying mantis

The strongest utility of Marvel's rivals

Mantis has the same primary flaw as Adam Warlock; She doesn't have healing tied to left click. As such, Mantis may run out of healing if he doesn't deal damage with the left click.

Additionally, she is an extremely powerful healer whose success depends on the player's ability to maintain uptime on her damage boost and healing buffs over time. Doing this with multiple characters requires accurate aiming, but is a significant benefit for the team.

Strategist

Difficulty

Pros

Cons

praying mantis

  • Stronger utility

  • Powerful ending

  • More consistent healing

  • Healing does not require aiming

  • Blast cure is missing

  • Lacks strong mobility

His Spore Slumber is one of the best abilities in the gamefunctioning similarly to Ana's sleep dart in Surveillance. Its suppression effect on an enemy has many uses and is easily applied due to its forgiving hitbox.

Mantis also has the most consistent self-healing among strategists, with healing triggered by essentially any ability she uses. This is a great help when under pressure and can be associated with increased self-damage as well as Sleep Spore to deflect enemy dives quickly.

1

Luna Neve

Luna has no flaws

Marvel Rivals' Luna Snow, a relatively new addition to the IP, is the best strategist in Rivals. Although other characters have facets that surpass Luna, she has no flaws. She has a tool for every situation, but those tools are not relegated to the typical balancing act of anyone's master.

Pros

Cons

Luna Neve

★★

  • Amazing ending

  • Fast but conditional movement

  • Strong healing and damage

  • Piercing, hitscan damage and healing

  • Strong CC utility

Her kit is powerful. Like praying mantis, It has a strong DC suppression ability with the same benefits, although more challenging to land. His penetrating heals are consistent and can be increased with Ice Arts to cover situations where strong blast healing is required.

Luna also has one of the best ults in the entire game.with a single use of it being able to completely nullify the enemy's attacks and ultimates. Although its mobility in combat is not the strongest, it allows for easy repositioning and definitive dodges.

Once again, Luna has no notable flaws in Marvel Rivals, and currently, this isn't balanced with the fact that she has a weaker toolkit to compensate. She works on all the team's compositions and is a huge asset to any team she's on, especially if her abilities are timed well and used to their full potential.

Despite the main characters' strengths, there is no bad tactician in Marvel Rivals. With a central foundation of positioning and awareness, any strategist can be effective. Learning multiple heroes will always be a good investment, as balance changes can affect characters' strength, and being able to adjust to enemy compositions is vitally important in the game.
