Despite Platform 2 primarily revolves around a new set of characters, but doesn’t shy away from using some familiar faces from the original film. Spanish thriller directed by Galder Gastelu-Urrutia. Platformperformed incredibly well both commercially and critically when it arrived on Netflix in 2019. Its success prompted the streamer to tag its sequel. Platform 2which is set in the same dystopian setting as its predecessor, but attempts to expand on the overarching lore established in the original film.
In the first moments of its existence Platform 2 focuses on two characters, Perempuan and Zamyatin, who were not part of the first film. However, as history progressed Platform 2 marks the return of many characters from the 2019 film. While some of these characters become crucial drivers of the sequel’s narrative, others show less ability in relation to Platform 2an ending that adds intrigue to the franchise’s mysterious narrative.

Goreng
Performed by Ivan Massage.
Goreng, played by Ivan Massagué, is the main character of the film. Platformwho enters the pit to receive his diploma. He agrees to spend six months in the hole in exchange for a diploma and views his stay in the vertical prison as a win-win situation. According to him, being in prison will not only help him learn valuable lessons, but will also allow him to quit smoking for good. Unlike many other prisoners who choose to carry weapons into the pit, Goreng carries Miguel de Cervantes’ weapons with him. Don Quixote.
…Platform 2 apparently revises Goreng’s story, establishing that he did not come to the pit to get a diploma.
IN Platform 2Goreng appears in the final arc, where the film first shows him descending to the bottom of the pit with the young girl from the first film. The sequel then features a confusing post-credits scene in which the main character Perempuan somehow recognizes Goreng and hugs him when she sees him at the bottom of the pit. Although the film doesn’t go into detail about their relationship before they fell into the pit, it is likely that Goreng was Perempuan’s boyfriend before she entered the vertical prison..
Connected
Perempuan’s background Platform 2 reveals that she arrived at the vertical prison to learn to forgive herself for the death of her boyfriend’s son. The fact that she knows Goreng suggests that he was her boyfriend. If this narrative connection between the two films is correct, Platform 2 apparently revises Goreng’s story, establishing that he did not come to the pit to get a diploma. Like Perempuan, he too sought peace and redemption after the death of his son.

Trimagasi
Performed by Zorion Egileor.
Trimagasi is portrayed as one of the main antagonists in Platform. Although he acts friendly to Goreng at first and helps him adapt to the vertical prison environment by encouraging him to eat, he becomes his biggest enemy once they find themselves in one of the lower levels of the prison. To ensure his survival, Trimagasi ties Goreng to his bed and resorts to cannibalism to survive. His backstory reveals that he ended up in a vertical prison because he accidentally killed a man after throwing a TV out of a window.

In the opening moments of the film, he also hints at his evil tendencies by telling Goreng that he and his former cellmate ate another prisoner to feed themselves. Miharu later kills Trimagashi before she and Goreng consume his flesh to survive. Considering how Trimagasi dies in the original film, his appearance in Platform 2 Apparently this is a prequel to the original film. Although Platform 2The timeline is not explicitly mentioned, but appears to take place about a year before the events of the first film.

Miharu

IN PlatformMiharu is introduced as a character who descends to level 333 every month in search of her child. However, the film’s later ending suggests that Miharu only went down into the pit because she knew that the Authority had left the child at the lowest level as part of their social experiment. Platform 2 portrays her in a different light, where she is one of the members of the Authority. Apparently, she and another man are responsible for deciding which child will be sent to the bottom of the pit.
WITH Platform 2 serves as a prequel this discovery suggests that Miharu was once part of the Authority. before she too ended up in a vertical prison. As a former member of the Authority, she knew that children were left alone at the lowest level of the pit. So to make sure they were full, she went down to level 333 in Platform.

Baharat
Played by Emilio Buale
“Baharat” Emilio Buale is one of the key players in Platform who help Goreng send a “message” to the Authorities. He and Goreng protect the panna cotta to ensure it reaches the top level, but later send away the little girl they find on level 333. In the original film, Baharat also carries a rope with him, hoping to climb the levels when someone above doesn’t is promoted. solidarity in a vertical prison. Although his appearance is short-lived in Platform 2He appears to have the same moral code and principles as he hopes to bring about more unity among all the prisoners.

Unnamed prisoner with Down syndrome

When Goreng and Baharat descend to the bottom of the pit in Platform and giving all the prisoners the same amount of food, they encounter an unnamed prisoner with Down syndrome. IN Platform 2Perempuan and Sahabat cross paths with the same prisoner when they land on level 55. Although Perempuan and Sahabat consider taking the prisoner with them as they plan to descend further, Dagin Babi and his army arrive at the level before they can leave.

Imogiri
Performed by Antonia San Juan
Imogiri is portrayed as a former member of the Authority in Platform who willingly falls into the pit after being diagnosed with cancer. In the first film, she continues to deny that there are children in the pit, although Miharu claims to be looking for her daughter there. This proves that despite being a member of the Authority, she knows little about the full extent of the central social experiment.
