The Wizarding World’s famous seven-on-seven, broomstick-bound sport is finally getting a fresh video game adaptation in Harry Potter: Quidditch ChampionsAnd it’s bringing some iconic Harry Potter letters along with it. After Headmaster Black canceled Quidditch for the term in Hogwarts legacyThere was a noticeable niche that needed to be filled in the form of a dedicated Quidditch game. Quidditch Champions is just around the corner with its release date of September 3, 2024, and players will finally be able to take the field as prominent competitors in the sport.

Quidditch Champions is intended to be a largely multiplayer experience, but each team will only have three players in what is a bit of an interesting turn for the fictional sport. Rather than each player taking on one of four roles, it appears Each player will play as a chaser and another position concurrentlySwitch between the two at will and let a bot take over the unoccupied space. It’s a little unclear how this affects character selection, though, granted Quidditch Champions‘ Emphasis on both iconic characters and customizable avatars.

While the five have been explicitly named by a press release, the “Magic is in the air” trailer uploaded to the Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions YouTube channel promises Many more“Iconic characters will be available to play as or against. Interestingly, when that line is said in the trailer, it’s a generic crowd shot from the Harry Potter Films featuring Hermione Granger, Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom, none of whom are known Quidditch players. This does not necessarily disqualify them from being playable, but it is more likely that this is simply a way to keep the other characters completely secret.

It would seem that A character’s Quidditch position in the universe has no bearing on gameplay. For example, Draco Malfoy has only ever played Seeker for Slytherin (presumably because his father generously donated a set of new Nimbus 2001s to the program), but in the above trailer, he can be seen holding a Bitter’s bat. This is likely a gameplay concession, so players aren’t locked out of using their favorite character because of the position they select.

Other possible letters for Quidditch Champions To be made playable include Fred and George Weasley, who are both Bitters for Gryffindor, Charlie Weasley, Seeker and Quidditch Captain before Harry’s time at Hogwarts, and Viktor Krum, Seeker for the Bulgarian National Quidditch Team who caught the Snitch in the 1994 Quidditch Worlds Cap. Loss to Ireland. The four Hogwarts houses are likely to receive a lot of attention through the game’s cosmetics, as evidenced by the Quidditch Champions Deluxe edition already included item packs for each house.

Customizable character with many cosmetic options

Harry Potter Quidditch Champions - Winning team celebrating

While the inclusion of recognizable Harry Potter characters sure to excite longtime fans, A major draw from Quidditch Champions Is the ability to create a custom character. Although it is not as sophisticated as Hogwarts legacyCharacter creation, there seems to be a wealth of pre-set options players can mix and match to create their own Quidditch player, from body type to head shape and hairstyle. There are also many cosmetic items to choose from, including accessories like glasses and hats, robes and other clothing items, and even broom type.

While such cosmetic items have become the crux of monetization in many modern multiplayer games, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Has committed to not featuring microtransactions. Each wearable item can be earned by simply playing the game at no extra cost. This is a refreshing surprise considering the game carries a price tag of $30, but is an even bigger deal for PS4 and PS5 players who might try Quidditch Champions When it releases via PlayStation Plus on day one.

Quidditch was greatly missed Hogwarts legacyHowever Quidditch Champions Seems to be, at least in part, making up for the omission with a fairly thorough adaptation of the magical sport. The game’s decision to have three-on-three multiplayer is a little strange, but evaluation will have to wait until the game actually releases. Regardless, customizable characters are likely to take center stage Harry Potter: Quidditch ChampionsAlthough the inclusion of iconic characters from the franchise is a notable highlight.
