Every Marvel Movie Releasing in 2024

Throughout 2024, some exciting results Wonder films were released. While the MCU timeline is the first thing that comes to most viewers' minds when it comes to Marvel, the release of films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse provided a first-hand look at the idea that other Marvel projects could be phenomenally successful. Sony also had three films from the Spider-Man Universe that were released in 2024.

Several upcoming Marvel films and shows have had their release dates changed due to internal reorganization and the effects of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have delayed several projects. These factors have caused some films to undergo drastic changes, either being moved from 2023 to 2024, moved to 2024, or - in an unusual case - actually brought forward. While the slate of Marvel films releasing in 2024 has seen some notable changes, the current lineup was very promising and most have seen success through box office results or critical response, while others have fallen by the wayside.

Marvel's first release of 2024 came as a surprise to many: marketed as the return of Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin and Charlie Cox's Daredevil following their MCU return in Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home respectively, the reality was something completely different. The marketing proved to be misleading, especially in the focus on Daredevil, although Kingpin played an important role even if his screen time was somewhat limited. Instead of, Echo is the story of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) reclaiming her identity and her heritage.

The core of the story was great, but the editing proved very uneven and reportedly heavy post-production adjustments left many scars. Yet, Echo it was far from a disaster, and the positive representation score here is strong. And for the more cynical MCU fans who are just looking for the advancement of “stronger brands”, Kingpin's setup for the future of the MCU was very exciting.

Marvel's 2024 slate kicked off with a much-speculated film from Sony, as the ambitious Lady Teia entered cinemas for a February 14, 2024, launch after changes to Sony's Marvel movie release moved forward two days. The film brought together a very entertaining selection of characters played by some talented actors, with Lady Teia'The cast includes Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Isabela Merced and Adam Scott. Unfortunately, though, the film received a decidedly lackluster response, with Lady Teia fighting to overcome Morbius' box office.

Unfortunately, the the latest Sony Spider-Verse film is a mess, bafflingly marketed, and unfortunately panned by its own cast after launch. As a slight positive, it genuinely rivaled the equally poor Morbius as one of the most memorable Marvel films of all time. So at least Sony can claim this victory.

Almost 30 years ago, X-Men: The Animated Series ended with Professor Charles Xavier leaving Earth, and a generation of new X-Men fans turned to comics for more mutant stories, stolen from their Saturday morning staple. By this time the show had lost some of its luster, but you wouldn't be able to tell X-Men '97It is rebirth. Faithfully channeling everything that made the original so beloved, the creative team led by Beau DeMayo has blazed a nostalgic yet entirely new path for the show.

Released in March 2024, its 10 episodes had no weaknesses and adapted several seminal arcs from the X-Men comics, culminating in a three-part version of Fatal Attractions. X-Men '97The ending of will long be considered one of Marvel's'is the best, and for good reason the reviews were incredibly effusive in their praise. The character work was phenomenal, the settings gloriously realized (and the perfect testament to the strength of the medium), and the stories deeply compelling. This isn't your Saturday morning cartoon, but at the same time it felt comfortable and familiar.

Deadpool and Wolverine – July 26, 2024

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Reunite for 2024's Biggest Prospect

Deadpool and Wolverine marked a new era for the MCU, with the film being the first time Marvel Studios reintroduced a Fox character as the protagonist of an MCU film. The film marks the return of not only Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, but also Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, despite the actor saying he had already finished the role in the past. Deadpool and Wolverine was released on July 26, 2024after being pushed back from a previous date of May 3, 2024, which itself was a rearranged date as the film's initial scheduled release it was on November 8, 2024.

However, despite this delay, Deadpool 3 looks set to be the biggest superhero movie release of 2024 - in part because it's currently Disney's only 2024 MCU movie, with Captain America: Brave New World and Rays being moved to the 2025 window. Ultimately, it appears that this may be a wise decision, as the announcement of these calendar changes came after the conclusion of the Hollywood strikes, suggesting that these decisions were made so that films could have complete production time without being rushed.

Deadpool 3The star-studded cast also included returning franchise players Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and Karan Soni as Dopinder, plus the additions of Emma Corrin (The crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession) as the villain Cassandra Nova and TVA boss Mr Paradox, respectively. Stranger Things' Shawn Levy directed the film, based on a script by Dead Pool franchise writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

There are also a large number of cameos in Deadpool and Wolverinewith many iconic actors reprising their previous Marvel roles in the MCU film. Not only did this enhance the film's ability to tackle the story from Marvel's side of the on-screen franchise, but it also allowed many characters to reach a perhaps more satisfying conclusion than they had previously received, providing a source of catharsis for many fans. .

The film features a plot related to the multiverse with LokiThe Time Variance Authority shows up to capture Deadpool, taking him on a mission to try and stop his universe from being destroyed - and inserting a variant of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to help him do it. The crossover of the Fox X-Men and MCU franchises into Deadpool and Wolverine created great expectations for Marvel film and the future of the comic book giant, and the Marvel film makes up for that effectively, providing a story that balances Deadpool's brand of comedy with some emotional moments.

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition - October 18, 2024

Another LEGO adventure for Marvel

Lego Marvel Avengers Demolition Mission

Those lego marvel specials have been released constantly over the years and LEGO Marvel Avengers: Demolition Mission is the tenth entry in the seriesand the last adventure of these heroes. LEGO Marvel Avengers: Demolition Mission came just a year later LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Redand featured a variety of familiar Marvel heroes.

Like the other LEGO Marvel specials, LEGO Marvel Avengers: Demolition Mission It was a quick and cheerful 40 minutes, bringing all the fun that comes with this franchise. It's a good time for the whole family, with lots of fan-favorite characters and even some fun cameos along the way. Even Deadpool appears in the end credits, capitalizing on the success of Deadpool and Wolverine at the beginning of the year.

Venom: The Last Dance – October 25, 2024

The story of Tom Hardy's symbiote comes to an end

Venom: The Last Dance was released on October 25, 2024, after being moved first from its original release date of July 12, 2024, and then again from its previous release date of November 8, 2024. It was widely touted as the Tom Hardy's last film, as well as Tom Hardy's last film Poison trilogy that began in 2018.

THE Poison films were easily the most successful for Sony's Spider-Man universe and Venom: The Last Dance this trend continues. Although it is worth noting that each Poison the film earned less than the previous one, and it seems to be the same with this one.

Due to declining box office sales, it is unclear how many projects Sony will develop in its universe after Kraven the Hunter launch in late 2024. Venom: The Last Dance introduced Knull to the universe, but he was relegated to a cameo role as Sony tried to position him as the big bad of their cinematic universe, similar to the MCU's Thanos.

Venom: The Last Dance essentially focused on the relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom as they try to get from Mexico to New York. They were fugitives wanted after the events of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and were being pursued by Xenophages sent to Earth by Knull. Tom Hardy has mentioned numerous times that Venom: The Last Dance It would be his last Venom film, but there is a possibility he could return for other Sony projects. Given that Venom apparently dies at the end of the film, it will be interesting to see what Sony decides to do with him and the rest of its Marvel characters going forward.

Kraven the Hunter – December 13, 2024

Sony's Spider-Man universe possibly ends with Marvel's most notorious hunter

The last film in Sony's Spider-Man universe of 2024 saw Kraven the Hunter released December 13, 2024after being notably delayed from previous release dates in October 2023 and August 2024. Kraven the Hunter The plot provides an altered origin story for Aaron Taylor-Johnson's version of the titular Spider-Man villain, who was intended to spawn his own distinct series. That may no longer be the case, given the film's reception and also Sony's lack of clarity about what comes next in its universe.

With no other Sony Spider-Man Universe films announced next Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven the HunterIt's unclear what Sony intends to do next after this film. Outside the Poison films, his other villain films performed poorly, including Kraven the Hunterwhich scored just 15% on Rotten Tomatoes and had the worst opening weekend of the other films in Sony's Spider-Man universe. There are currently no other films in production for the universe, which means Kraven the Hunter It could very well be the last.

What if... from Marvel? Season 3 – December 22, 2024

The final season of the series focused on Mutliverse

When it debuted in 2021, And if...? attempted to tell stories in the broader multiverse of the MCU, not completely tied to the sacred timeline and the events that came before it. This allowed the series to explore alternate histories, where characters' stories are altered slightly or in very different ways. It's what makes the multiverse concept great and allows Marvel Studios to try and do whatever they want without breaking the overall cannon of the MCU.

After the first two seasons of the series were successful, Marvel Studios returns with And if...? season 3, ending 2024 in spectacular fashion. This not only signals the end of the MCU's year, but also the end of And if...? as a seriesjust three years after its initial release. It's been a fun ride for the show, as Marvel Studios continues to march toward the end of the Multiverse Saga in the MCU, which will end with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
