Every Death in the 1979 Alien Movie, Ranked by Bloodiness

From a mutilated Dallas to an impaled Parker, character deaths in Ridley Scott’s original 1979 film. Stranger Movies, especially those at the hands of a pesky xenomorph, are horribly gory. In subsequent years, Stranger The franchise has explored everything in the genre space: from action-packed action to philosophical sci-fi epic. But Scott’s original film is a cross between a haunted house film and a slasher film. It’s an Agatha Christie mystery mixed with a monster movie. And thus it represents a series of grisly deaths as the crew of the Nostromo is brutally destroyed.

Stranger is responsible for some of the bloodiest deaths in the history of the horror genre. The Notorious Trunk is one of the bloodiest (and most unforgettable) scenes ever put to film. But in some cases, Scott leaves the bloodshed off-screen because leaving it up to the viewer’s imagination often ends up being more horrific than anything that could be created with special effects. There are some shockingly bloody deaths in Strangerfor example, Parker gets torn to shreds and Brett gets his head smashed in, but others aren’t too bad, like Dallas’ off-screen demise.

Xenomorph

Even rocket engines can’t break a xenomorph’s skin

Xenomorph goes into space in Alien

Alien: Romulus It was recently revealed that Ripley didn’t actually kill the xenomorph when she threw it into space. He wrapped himself in a cocoon to protect himself from the harsh conditions of outer space, but did not actually die. Years later, he was discovered by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, who brought him aboard Renaissance Station and nicknamed him “Big Guy”. There he caused chaos, creating a nest and destroying the entire team. But when the first Stranger the film was released, as far as we know, Ripley killed the xenomorph when she launched it into space.

While it’s certainly a triumphant moment to see Ripley blast the xenomorph into space after all the death and destruction he’s caused, it’s not a particularly gory death. After leaving the ship, it still clings to the outer surface, so Ripley has to turn on the engines to get rid of it once and for all – and even the rocket engines are not powerful enough to break the black, rubbery organism of this perfect organism. leather. Not a drop of sour blood was spilled as the xenomorph was thrown into the vacuum of space.

Lambert

Lambert is impaled by a xenomorph’s tail off-screen

A Xenomorph approaches Lambert in Alien.

Lambert’s death is supposed to be truly gruesome, but luckily the worst part happens off-screen. Scott masterfully builds tension by cutting between the xenomorph ominously approaching a terrified Lambert and the armed Ripley desperately trying to get there in time to save her. As Ripley gets closer and closer to the room where the xenomorph has Lambert cornered, the xenomorph gets closer and closer to Lambert, who is frozen in fear. When the xenomorph finally reaches Lambert, its pointed tail slowly sneaks up behind her to impale her.

Luckily, Scott cuts it off before the xenomorph uses its tail to pierce Lambert’s skin and rip through it. The shot of Lambert’s tail sneaking up behind him is more than enough to create a scary image in the audience’s mind, but Scott doesn’t actually portray that image on screen. Lambert’s corpse is seen hanging and bleeding when Ripley finally makes it to the room, seconds after saving her from the xenomorph’s wrath, but the mangled corpse in the foreground is out of focus, so it’s not particularly gory.

Ash

Ash’s death is terrible, but fortunately there is no human blood in him

Ash's headless body in Alien

Ash is initially introduced as an ordinary member of the team, but he is later revealed to be an android who is truly dedicated to the interests of the company. Weyland-Yutani told Ash to return the xenomorph to Earth for study, and that the lives of his teammates were expendable. When he found out about this, the team members were not too happy. Ripley tells Ash about his plans, and when he tries to kill her, Ripley and her teammates fight him. Ripley disables Ash and Parker comes in and burns him with a flamethrower.

By the time the team was done with him, Ash was decapitated and torn apart, with his artificial organs scattered all over the table. This would be truly terrifying if he had red human blood, which by nature makes people squeamish. But androids Stranger The universe has milky white artificial blood flowing through their artificial veins. This makes Ash’s death a little less horrifying because it doesn’t cause the same gut reaction as red blood. When Ash dies, he just looks like spilled milk, which isn’t that disgusting.

4

Dallas

Most of Dallas’s demise happens off-screen.

Xenomorph attacks Dallas in Alien

The death of Dallas is one of the most shocking horrors in history. Strangerbut it’s not particularly bloody. Scott masterfully builds suspense as Dallas ventures into dark, narrow tunnels in search of the xenomorph, with only the flame at the end of his flamethrower to light the way. Meanwhile, the rest of the team watches Dallas on the screen. Both Dallas and the xenomorph are represented on screen in flashes, with the xenomorph’s mark quickly approaching Dallas’ mark, which is a really simple but effective way to create tension and fear.

But when the xenomorph finally catches up with Dallas, most of his death happens, thankfully, off-screen. Dallas turns just in time to see the xenomorph lunge at him, but then the film ends with the screen shaking and the crew reacting in horror to his demise. This is a classic case where it’s even scarier if the movie doesn’t show it. Like most shark attacks in JawsDallas’ horrific death in the minds of the audience is far worse than anything Scott could have shown on screen.

3

Brett

Brett’s head is smashed before he is dragged off-screen

Brett looks at the xenomorph in Alien.

After the xenomorph is born and escapes onto the ship, Brett is the first one it shoots down. While Brett and his teammates search for the xenomorph, Brett sees Jones the cat cowering in the corner. He follows the cat to a corner, where he is horrified to discover that in a matter of hours, the small child that burst from Kane’s chest has grown into an adult. He towers over Brett by two meters in height. Brett barely has time to look up and realize the bloodthirsty monster in front of him before he is killed.

In a series of quick shots, the xenomorph slams into Brett’s head, knocks him unconscious, and then picks him up and drags him off-screen. The most gruesome part of Brett’s death occurs off-screen as the xenomorph carries him to its lair. But it’s already pretty terrifying when Brett looks up and sees the alien parting its mouths before the inner jaw shoots into his skull. Unlike some StrangerThese are the bloodiest deaths, this shot is thankfully brief, but there is a lot of blood gushing from Brett’s head before he is pulled away.

2

Parker

Poor Parker got torn to shreds

The Xenomorph kills Parker in Alien.

As the xenomorph approaches the petrified Lambert, Parker bravely jumps in to save her. But as soon as he approaches the alien, he carelessly bats him away with his tail. If Parker had simply stayed down and let the xenomorph kill Lambert, he might have been able to avoid its wrath. But Parker cares too much about his teammates to do that. When Ripley was attacked by Ash, Parker intervened with a flamethrower to save her. And when Lambert was attacked by a xenomorph, Parker did not stop fighting him until he killed him.

When it becomes clear that Parker will not leave alone the opportunity to kill Lambert in peace, the xenomorph briefly turns its attention to Parker in order to kill him first. Just as the xenomorph killed Brett, it shoots its inner jaw into Parker’s skull in a frightening close-up, killing him in an instant. There is a terrifying burst of scarlet blood as Parker’s head is smashed. Parker’s death is even more gruesome than Brett’s because, after fracturing his skull, the xenomorph doesn’t drag him off-screen to finish the job; it tears him apart on screen.

1

Kane

The death of Kane Chestburster is one of the most iconic horror movie moments of all time.

Kane writhes on the table in Alien

First murder on screen Stranger also by far the bloodiest. When some crew members descend on an alien world to check a mysterious signal, they discover a downed cargo ship full of slippery eggs. One of these eggs opens and spits out a facehugger onto Kane. They bring him back aboard the ship and place him on a table in the medical bay, where they try to remove the facehugger. Once they’ve gotten over him and he seems okay, they all throw a party to celebrate.

There’s a bit of painful irony in this party scene because it turns out that all is not well with Kane and there’s no reason to celebrate. In the middle of a holiday dinner, Kane begins to convulse and falls onto the table, an alien child bursting out of his chest. The chest has become one of the most iconic moments in horror cinema; this is one of the most disturbing sequences ever put to film. There is more blood in this scene than in all of them. Strangertaken together, other scenes of death – it flows in all directions like a terrible fountain.

Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, is a sci-fi horror film about the crew of the commercial spaceship Nostromo. While investigating a distress signal on a distant moon, they discover a deadly alien life form. Starring Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, the film was a seminal work in both the science fiction and horror genres, known for its atmospheric tension and innovative visual effects.
