Every Death in Agatha All the Time, Ranked

Notice! This article contains spoilers for Agatha all the time season 1.

Agatha all the time ultimately came to a brilliant conclusion, although getting there was a long journey fraught with death for many of the characters involved, not all of them equally significant. Being a spooky series centered around witches and magic, it’s not surprising that Agatha all the time was plunged into death. With the Agatha all the time finale now released, the series’ final death count has left some chilling memories, though not all are created with the same level of subtlety.

Throughout its 9 episodes, Agatha all the time featured a handful of notable death scenes. Some of them can be emotional moments in which members of the group Agatha all the timeThe cast that audiences slowly grew to love were cruelly stripped away in heartbreaking sequences. Others are more bombastic, being fun to watch for the spectacle of the show’s magical affinity. When compared to one another, some of these deaths are better realized than others, with a clear discrepancy in how certain characters’ deaths are handled.

William Kaplan dies in a car accident

Episode 6 – Family by your side

William Kaplan killed in a car accident in episode 6 of Agatha All Along

The identity of Joe Locke’s character, simply known as “Teen”, was one of the early mysteries Ágatha all the time. Thanks to a magical spell placed over Agatha’s perceptions, Agatha (and by extension, the audience) is unable to hear Teen speak or visually see any clues pertaining to her name and history, with multiple conflicting clues suggesting different possibilities for her true self. place in history. Agatha’s clan. When his identity is finally revealed, it is heralded by death, though far from the most emotionally impactful or resonant in the series.

It turns out that Teen is Wiccan, the reincarnated spirit of Billy Maximoff who managed to enter an unoccupied ship, the body of the recently deceased William Kaplan. Kaplan dies in a random accident, a car accident caused by a rubber neck after Wanda releases her control in Westview. William Kaplan only has a limited amount of screen time as himself before he dies, making the loss of his character hardly felt. It doesn’t help that the cause of his death, somewhat prosaic, is far from exciting.

Sharon Davis falls from poisoning

Episode 3 – Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials

Sharon Davis drinking the rest of her wine in episode 3 of Agatha All Along

If there is a victim among the cast of Agatha all the time What stands out for its tragedy is the poisoned death of Sharon Davis. A Westview resident who returned from the cast of WandaVisionSharon Davis was an unknown surrogate participant in Agatha’s last coven, despite having no real magical affinity. Although she had a green thumb, Sharon definitely did not have the qualities of a proper Green Earth Witch, dying early in the journey down the Witch Road in the first trial, only to be replaced by Rio Vidal in the coven. .

In the Potion Witch Trial, Sharon’s hair was unfortunately left out of the antidote to the poisoned wine prepared by Jennifer Hale, causing her to tragically die just before a revised antidote could pass her lips. In fact, Sharon’s death was a bit anticlimactic for the return WandaVision character, and was quickly surpassed by Agatha and the others. Without spectacle or meaning, Sharon shouldn’t even be on Witch Road, making her death seem even more pointless. His death really only existed to prove the dangers of the Witch Road.

Agatha kills countless clans over the years

Episode 9 – Old Mother Maiden

While Agatha all the time certainly made its titular witch more sympathetic, the series had no reservations in showing how cruel and callous Agatha can be. In WandaVision, a glimpse was shown of Agatha in the Salem Witch Trials, absorbing the magical energy of her entire clan, including her own mother. In Ágatha all the time, some chilling flashbacks to Agatha’s story in the 1750s show her taking the lives of several innocent witches, cinematically draining their life force as they fall one by one.

At the end of the first season of Ágatha all the time, Another chilling glimpse into Agatha’s past crimes is shown when her modern clan joins hands and sings the Ballad of the Witch’s Road for the last time. As the camera pans, cuts of Agatha wearing various period costumes alongside different covens of witches pepper the swirling ritual, with each of the previous versions ending in misery for Agatha’s victims. Even though the series doesn’t have time to explore the backstories of all these past witches, the scene’s brilliant framing makes their deaths quite a chilling sight.

Alice is drained of life force by Agatha

Episode 5 – Darkest Hour / Awaken Your Power

Agatha Harkness taking on Alice's power in episode 5 of Agatha All Along

Agatha’s history of killing her former clansmen is so deep in her blood that it has become almost muscle memory, sometimes killing those she didn’t truly intend to hurt. The tragic climax of Alice’s plot explores this idea, as she and the rest of Agatha’s coven become embroiled in the Spiritual Witch Trial. Here, the coven finds a ouija board that eventually summons the malicious spirit of Agatha’s mother, Evanora Harkness, another witch who insists that her daughter was born evil and should have been killed at birth.

As if to prove her point, Agatha begins to instinctively absorb Alice’s magical energy when she fires a supernatural blast at her, hoping to free Agatha from the influence of her mother’s possession. Unfortunately, this attempt to save Agatha results in Alice’s death, as the dark witch’s tendency to suck the life force out of her fellow witches proves to be too ingrained in her nature. This death is quite moving in its irony, but leaves something to be desired in the visual department, with Alice’s drained shell falling to the ground in a tacky manner.

The Wu family curse bursts into flames

Episode 4 – If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Music Teach You

The Wu Family Curse demon bursting into flames in Agatha All Along

Not every incredible death in Agatha all the time it was necessarily once a human life. Even though Alice’s death wasn’t as dramatic as it could have been, the demonic curse plaguing the Wu family that manifests in the second Witch Road trial finds a fantastic ending at Alice’s hands. As the ancient curse begins to manifest itself as a living demon during the Protection Witch Trial at the Witches’ Road Recording Studio, it is up to Alice to finally find a solution to her family’s long-standing problem.

With the power of music, Alice is able to play music that sets the demon on fire, burning him to ash just in time. The steel in Alice’s eyes as she stares down the demon, joking the entire time, makes this death quite spectacular. If only the demon or the Wu Family Curse had more screen presence, the eventual triumph over him might have been even sweeter. Still, it’s hard to beat this death for entertainment value alone.

Death claims Nicholas Scratch

Episode 9 – Old Mother Maiden

Nicholas Scratch and Witches Road Bell

Unlike her own mother, Agatha Harkness had a very powerful love for her own son, despite what was believed of her in magical circles. It turns out that Nicholas Scratch, Agatha’s son, was her main impetus for absorbing the life force of other witches, making a shaky deal with death to prevent her natural passage of the disease for years on end. Eventually, Death came for Nicholas’s soul, arriving at night and allowing Nicholas to say a tearful goodbye to his mother.

Kissing his mother one last time, Nicholas allows himself to succumb to Death’s embrace, dying in his sleep. This heartbreaking flashback is one of the most emotionally devastating deaths in the entire series, even if it’s far from flashy. The image of Death gently walking away with his former lover’s son is one of the most powerful in the series, though more time spent with Nicholas would have made his loss seem as painful as it was for his mother.

Lilia kills the Salem Seven

Episode 7 – Death’s Hand in Mine

Lilia falling to her death in Agatha All Along (2024)

For the most part, deaths in Agatha all the time they seem to have emotional meaning or fantastic spectacle, rarely being able to balance both. A rare exception is made for Lilia, who manages to kill all of the Salem Seven in a phenomenal way in the seventh episode. The Divination Witch Trial put Lilia Calderu in the spotlight as the group’s resident tarot expert. When the mysterious clan, the Salem Seven, finally catches up with Agatha’s motley band of modern witches, Lili manages to confront them in a stunning demonstration of the power of divination.

Flipping “The Tower”, the major arcana tarot card that represents drastic changes, calamities, and disasters, Lilia reverses the gravity of the room they are in, causing her and the Salem Seven to fall into the various swords sticking out of the ceiling, impaling himself. After the revelation of how Lilia experiences time, this moment becomes even more bittersweet with the witch’s knowledge that her death was imminent. Eliminating the series’ most persistent antagonist at the cost of her own life, Lilia’s sacrifice is at once dramatic, sad, and moving.

Agatha sacrifices herself for Billy

Episode 8 – Follow Me, My Friend/To Glory at the End

It’s fitting that Agatha’s own death is by far the most shocking and provocative of the entire series. Despite initially planning to allow Billy to sacrifice himself to Death instead of herself, Agatha changes her mind and decides to do for Billy what she was never able to do for Nicholas – save him by offering her own life. In the MCU’s first same-sex kiss scene, Agatha dramatically allows Death to give her a literal kiss of death, gently taking her long-awaited life.

It’s quite a dramatic moment as Agatha’s corpse slowly turns into a blanket of mushrooms on the ground, creating an emotionally rich and visually stunning ending. So much better that death allows Agatha to turn into a ghost, better remembering her original incarnation in the comics and further advancing her story in the MCU, even after her life ends, helping Billy search for his brother from beyond the grave. It’s quite fitting that the best death in Agatha all the time is that of the title character.
