Star field has a wide variety of companions that space adventurers can meet and recruit into their group. While some have deep and moving stories, others have funny personalities or are cool to be around. However, outside of Constellation’s four main members, Sam Coe, Sarah Morgan, Barrett, and Andreja, the other potential candidates for the ship’s crew don’t get the love they deserve. So far, space adventurers have found a total of 29 different recruitable companions across Starfield and the Shattered Space DLC.
In Star fieldEscorts fall into three categories. There are the main Constellation companions – all of which can be romanced in Star field – there are named companions found in different cities and there are generic crew members with names like “EM Weapons Specialist”. While the main companions have the most detailed backstories and side quests associated with them, some of the other named companions are also pretty cool and can serve as integral parts of the quests in the game. These are all known Star field companions, ranked from worst to best.

Adoring fan
As expected, Adoring Fan has some of the most abysmal stats like Star field partner. First appearing in The Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionThis character can be added via the Hero Worshiped trait in the character creation screen.
Much like his previous appearance, he can be very annoying and exists more as an Easter egg than anything else. With weak base stats and an even weaker personality, the Adoring Fan is best avoided and is only really good for a bit of temporary fun.
28
Gideon Aker
Gideon Aker is one of the first companions that can be found in Star field and has pretty decent skills, with two stars in ballistic and missile weapons systems. Although it is very expensive at 16,500 credits, it makes up for it by being an early-game companion that can be purchased at The Viewport bar in New Atlantis in the Alpha Centauri star system. That being said, he’s pretty forgettable and his personality will probably be annoying to some, making Gideon one of the worst sidekicks in the world. Star field.
27
Lyle Brewer
Lyle Brewer is another name Star field companion who can be recruited in the Cheyenne system at Aggie’s Bar in Akila City. While his anti-establishment methods may entice some to recruit him into their party, for others his jokes about megacorporations may seem irritating. Although he has one point in Xenosociology from dealing with Ashta on Akila, along with two points in Shotgun Certification, he is a rather underwhelming companion, to say the least.
26
Autumn MacMillan
Found in The Red Mile bar on Porrima III in the Porrima star system, Autumn MacMillian is a Freestar Ranger encountered along the way to the Freestar Collective main quest. Initially, Autumn has one of the worst and most defensive personalities of everything Star field NPCs.
Eventually, she brightens up after the protagonist proves his worth by running The Red Mile. Although she makes a terrible first impression, her combat skills make up for some of the disadvantages of her temperamental personality.
25
Simeon Bankowski
If you’re looking for a sniper to join the team, Simeon Bankowski is one of the first characters that can be found in The Viewpoint in New Atlantis. His initial draft fee of 18,000 credits will likely be very expensive early in the game, and it’s debatable whether he’s worth picking up later on. Former MAST employee, obtained two points in Sniper Certification and one point in Marksmanship and Elite Shooting. Personality-wise, he’s okay – but there are certainly more colorful companions to choose from in the game.
24
Rosie Tannehill
Those looking for a bright, positive companion to add to their crew need look no further than Rosie Tannehill, found in the city of Akila in the Cheyenne star system. A doctor with three points in Wellbeing and one point in Medicine, Rosie is one of the few healers in Star fieldBut that’s not the only thing that makes Rosie so amazing. Your positive and optimistic attitude is the perfect complement for anyone looking for a moral move.
23
Tane Salavea
Tane is one of two new companions introduced in Star fieldof Shattered Space DLC, and while he’s not the deepest character in Star fieldhe can be a good presence to have around. Although he may seem aloof and lazy, Tane is the perfect kind of friend to hang out with for a few beers. He’s also surprisingly useful when it comes to stealth, which makes him a good choice for a Shattered Space game that avoids explosive confrontations whenever possible.
The problem with Tane is that he doesn’t feel like the best choice to fill one of the only two supplementary slots in the DLC. He’s not particularly tied to the main storyand the ex-fanatic Orahim ends up appearing as a more dynamic character who could have taken Tane’s place to more memorable effect.
22
Mickey Caviar
If there were ratings for Starfield’s weirdest sidekick, Mickey Caviar would certainly rank quite high. A former New Atlantian writer, Caviar can be found in Neon’s Astral Lounge and actually has some of the longest dialogue options in the game. It’s a bit long-winded (common among writers), so it probably won’t please everyone. While his eccentric personality will be the highlight of the recruitment, most of the dialogue will revolve around his culinary assessments.
21
Marika Boros
Marika Boros is a people person and former Freestar Collective Ranger. Found early in the game on the planet Jemison in New Atlantis, Boros actually has a pretty decent range of combat skills with two stars in ballistics and one in shotgun and particle beam weapons. Although his accent may be difficult for some to identify, the name Boros is Hungarian, likely pointing to his origin. As a companion, she will always defend the underdog, which makes her a great companion for a good move.
20
Vasco
Vasco is a core companion found at the start of the Constellation mission and the only recruitable robot companion in the game. Although the conversation with Vasco is rather lackluster, he is a decent backup in a fight. While many may have an affinity for the only non-human member of Constellation, and he has a lot of dialogue, everything comes out too, – quite robotic.
19
Daniel Garcia
As one of the few recruitable companions in Star fieldIn Neon City on Volii Alpha in the Volii system, Dani Garcia is a scientist with two points in Robotics and one point in Chemistry and Energy Systems, which is a good companion. A researcher who collects more information about mechs, which were banned during the Colonial War, Dani is an interesting, if somewhat forgettable, companion in Star field.
18
Andromeda Kepler
Andromeda Kepler is a good-hearted scientist who can be found in Cydonia, in the Broken Spear bar, in the Sol star system. With a positive and science-oriented personality, her best stat is Outpost Engineer, in which she has two stars.
Space explorers can recruit Andromeda Kepler for 13,500 credits without haggling. She’s cool and her voice isn’t harsh, which makes her one of the most solid science-minded companions in Star field.
17
Heller
If it weren’t for the fact that Heller was part of the initial intro mission in Star fieldhe would probably be one of the biggest throwaway characters in the game. His demure personality and bland dialogue make him one of the game’s most forgettable characters, although he is one of the first the protagonist meets and a fellow miner at Argos Extractors on Vectera in the Narion system. If not for his excellent Outpost Engineering skill, for which he has three points, Heller would be one of the worst Star field companions in terms of personality.
16
Rafael Aguerro
Rafael is a companion found and an important part of the “Entangled” mission at the end of the campaign. Although many may not realize the fact that he is recruitable, as saving him or letting him die is one of the choices Star field That matters, players would be remiss not to recruit the engineer if possible.
While Rafael isn’t the most exciting companion, he has stats in Engineering and Outpost Management and skills in Starship Engineering. Furthermore, he is a super nice guy, willing to go the extra mile for the team. If one approaches the mission correctly, there is a way to achieve both positive outcomes.
15
Eric Von Principe
To recruit Erick, people will need to go to Cydonia’s basement and speak to a merchant named Jane Weller, who will provide the quest “Start-Up Stopped,” which will task adventurers with finding a lost ship called the Berry Mule. On the ship, the opportunity will arise to save Erick, and if the choice is made to let the spacers keep the ship, Erick can later be recruited into the crew. While Erick Von Prince isn’t the best or most interesting sidekick in Star field, the quest required to catch him is interesting enoughand has two points in Astrodynamics, which could be useful in a space fight.
14
Lin
Unlike Heller, who has a rather bland and forgettable personality, Lin is one of the most memorable characters adventurers meet. Star field. Recruitable after completing Constellation’s main mission “Back to Vectera”, Lin is the prickly mining supervisor who whips the protagonist into shape in the game’s first mission.
A pleasant surprise as a recruitable companion later on, Lin has slightly worse outpost management skills than Heller at two points, but makes up for it with her amazing personality. However, it would be nice if she washed her face at some point.
13
Sofia Graça
Sophia Grace is another Star field companion that can be found in Neon in the Volii Alpha in the Volii system. She can be found near Madame Sauvange’s Place bar, and seeks to escape the violence of Neon’s gangs. Although her voice may be a little irritating to some, her endearing and kind personality makes up for it. As one of the only companions to have three points in Stealth, Grace is also a competent companion in combat.
12
Sahima Ka’dic
Sahima Ka’dic is the other companion found in Shattered Spaceand she feels like a slightly more appropriate choice than Tane. As one of the youngest companions in Star fieldit niches down a bit more and is more integrated into the actual story and conflict of the DLC.
Sahima also has more dialogue overall than Taneeven though her personality isn’t particularly vivid, giving her a greater presence than many crew members in the game. Tane and Sahima may be killed rather than recruited, but extending the olive branch to Sahima is definitely better than turning a gun on her.
11
Moara Otero
Moara Otero is another easily overlooked companion that people meet during the quest “The Old Neighborhood” as part of the main Constellation quests. Otero is found on his ship, injured by pirates seeking the artifact, which – interestingly enough, Otero is wearing as a hood ornament. While his complete ignorance of the power of artifacts may be a point of criticism, he is actually a very relaxed character and has great combat stats, with two points in EM Weapon Systems and two points in Marksmanship. After completing the quest, he can be found in the Broken Spear bar in Cydonia on Mars in the Sol star system.
10
Mathis Castillo
Mathis Castillo is probably one of the most annoying and irritating NPCs when first encountered during the Crimson Fleet quest during “Echoes of the Past”. While his harebrained scheme to overthrow Delgado is incredibly stupid, he becomes less focused on acquiring power when the protagonist befriends him.
As one of the only “bad” characters one can recruit in the game, it unfortunately sets Mathis apart as a rather unique and good character. Star field partner. It can be found after completing the quest in the Last Nova bar in The Key.
