Dragon Ball Daima is pitting Goku against one of the most powerful enemies he’s ever faced, and for the first time, the bold warrior is actually feeling a little intimidated. Goku may not be scared per se, but the Tamagami’s strength is enough to make him cautious, and that’s worth noting in itself.
Dragon Ball Daima set Goku on a mission to fight and defeat the three Tamagami, incredibly powerful warriors who were created to protect the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls. Having heard rumors of deadly enemies, Goku, of course, couldn’t help but want to challenge them, and it seems that Daima episode 8 will finally see him clash with the first of these guardians. However, his first encounter with the Tamagami made Goku truly realize what was coming, and in a rare moment of foresight, saw him panic at the thought of facing the creature and its massive weapon.
Goku’s care towards Tamagami is guaranteed
Tamagami’s weapon makes him a bigger threat than expected
In episode #7, Goku sees the Tamagami for the first time and begins to understand how they went so long without being defeated. Tamagami Number Three, as he is called, is shown wielding a colossal hammer, which Goku notes could easily crush his tiny body in a single blow. Typically, Goku’s lust for battle isn’t hampered by the thought of what his opponent could do to him, so it’s certainly unusual for this Tamagami to make him hesitate.. Goku is still Goku, however, and ends up challenging the Tamagami despite the threat (that is, after a snack).
The Tamagami are definitely a force not to be underestimated. Although they respect the opponent’s surrender and stop attacking them, the challenger still needs to have the means to surrender before being killed. It is said in the episode that even Dabura fought against the Tamagami and was unable to defeat them, and Dabura has the highest level of power ever recorded in the series. While Goku is arguably stronger than Dabura was at this point in his adult form, it is unclear whether this is necessarily the case in his current Mini form.
It is also quite rare in Dragon Ball for Goku to face opponents who use weapons; although the weapons are not unheard of in Dragon Ballthey are mainly used by heroic characters, such as Goku himself with the Power Pole or Trunks and his sword. Tamagami’s hammer itself seems to hint at his strategy, suggesting that he will rely on unstoppable strength and overwhelming power to defeat opponents who challenge him. Getting hit by the hammer would be terrible news for Goku, so his strategy will have to revolve around avoiding the Tamagami’s attacks and landing his attacks where he can.
How does Tamagami compare to Buu?
Tamagami Can Overcome Goku’s Strongest Enemy Yet
Much has been said about Tamagami’s strength at this stage, but fans have yet to see these guardians in action. If they are proven to be stronger than Dabura, then the next most powerful enemy to compare them to would be Majin Buu himself. Buu was substantially stronger than Dabura, able to turn him into a cookie and eat him with ease. Gomah certainly seemed terrified of Majin Buu and was very intimidated by the idea of challenging the Tamagami as well, so this would seem to put them on roughly the same level.
The true extent of Tamagami’s abilities is a mystery at this time; From the preview of episode 8, you can tell that they are very, very fast, even when wielding such a large weapon. Since no one in the Demon Realm seems to be aware of Ki, it seems unlikely that Tamagami are also very aware of it, which means they probably don’t have the ability to perform Ki blasts and other energy attacks, which could be the advantage they have. Goku needs to win. It is, however, possible that Tamagami have some magical abilities at their disposal, which would make them highly unpredictable, much like Buu.
It’s also not very clear what Tamagami are at this stage. They appear robotic, or at least heavily armored, but it is equally likely that they are magically conjured creatures created by the Namekian Neva. This would make them even more comparable to Majin Buu, who was created in a similar way by Bibidi. The Tamagami’s true nature could be very important in defeating them, and it will be interesting to see if this information comes out during Goku’s fight with Tamagami Number Three.
Goku’s first Tamagami battle will be key to defeating the others
Goku’s battle against number three will be a learning experience
Tamagami Number Three might actually be the hardest for Goku to defeat, simply because he has no real context of what he’s capable of.. If Goku can defeat Number Three, he will be in a much better position to face the other two, especially since he has a better idea of what they can throw at him. The Tamagami appear to have slightly different capabilities, as each wields a unique weapon, so Number Three’s lessons won’t translate perfectly. Still, seeing one of them in action will be an invaluable experience to challenge the other two.
As guardians of a set of Dragon Balls that have never been used, the Tamagami could easily prove to be the toughest enemies Goku has faced at this point in his history, potentially even surpassing Majin Buu in terms of raw power. How powerful they are will only become apparent once Goku is in combat, and at that point there’s nothing he can do but charge forward and win. But one thing is certain: given the quality of the fights in Dragon Ball Daimathe fight with Tamagami Number Three will be one that fans won’t want to miss.
