Who’s new and who’s returning to Ethan Hunt’s Mission: Impossible team?
Like other entries in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning features a core team working alongside Tom Cruise’s main protagonist. The trailer for the 2025 sequel suggests it will follow a similar pattern, positioning these characters as key members of Hunt’s team and part of the plan to stop the evil Entity:
Ethan Hunt
Actor Tom Cruise has long been the face of Mission: Impossible franchise, so it’s no surprise that he’s returning to play protagonist Ethan Hunt. Since Ethan was labeled a rogue agent for pursuing the Entity, The final reckoning continues its most challenging mission yet as several world governments seek to gain control of AI.
Benji Dunn
Franchise regular Simon Pegg returns to play Ethan’s loyal friend and partner in the field, Agent Benji Dunn. After Ethan’s battle with Gabriel at the end of ReckoningBenji joins Ethan and goes in search of the submarine that houses the Entity.
Luther Stickell
With Ving Rhames once again playing Luther, this professional hacker continues to be a loyal pillar of both Ethan’s team and the Mission: Impossible franchise. Although he went off the grid after Ilsa’s death in Reckoninghe still supports Ethan from the shadows, using his abilities to stop the Entity from interfering with his mission.
Grace
Actress Hayley Atwell returns to play Ethan’s new ally, Grace. She first appeared in Reckoning as a thief sent to steal Ethan’s key to control the Entity. But after Ilsa sacrificed herself to save his life, Grace changed her mind and chose to support Ethan in the future.
Paris
Portrayed by Pom Klementieff, Paris debuted in the Mission: Impossible film franchise in Dead reckoning. A skilled French assassin, Paris started out as a servant of the Entity sent to hunt down Ethan. However, The final reckoning shows that since then it has allied itself with the IMF.
Degas
Played by Greg Tarzan Davis, Degas is an American agent who also first appeared in Reckoning. Working alongside his partner, Jasper Briggs, on behalf of the Commonwealth, he is sent to stop Ethan after he is labeled a rogue agent. Like Paris and Grace, Degas switched sides and joined Ethan’s team.

Changing allegiance and forming alliances with a mission: impossible – dead reckoning
Mission: Impossible – Reckoning introduced Paris and Degas to the film franchisebut they were far from Ethan’s allies at first. Paris starts out as a ruthless assassin working for Gabriel, but her loyalties change after Ethan spares her life and Gabriel stabs her and leaves her to die. She then chooses to save Ethan’s life and help him find the Entity. Whether this was done out of honor, revenge, or both remains unclear. Either way, Paris proved to be a valuable new asset to Ethan’s team.
Meanwhile, Degas and his partner Jasper were simply sent to arrest Ethan and his team in Reckoning. However, the first began to question whether Ethan was really doing the right thingimplying that he would support Ethan in his quest to stop the Entity. The trailer for The final reckoning seems to give this away, as he and Paris are shown sitting with Benji and Grace as if they were part of Ethan’s team.
