IN Courtyard of Thorns and RosesElaine Archeron has great potential as a storyteller, but her take on Lucien Vanserra could make him look bad throughout the upcoming sixth book. Elaine and Lucien may be considered minor characters in most books, but they are both predicted to take center stage in the next installment. Courtyard of Thorns and Roses series of books. This attention will likely prompt writer Sarah J. Maas to write her next book from Elaine’s point of view.but this would most likely mean that Lucien is not portrayed in a positive light.
One of several characters in Courts of thorns and roses needing a greater presence in the future, Lucen has already had a hard time in the last few books. Between fleeing home for safety, being exiled, and watching his lover die at the hands of his own brothers, Lucien attracted much sympathy and quickly gained popularity. However, his friendship with Tamlin left him confused after the events Court of Wings and Ruinsand this significantly damaged his reputation. Judging by what lies ahead, the situation may not be improving any time soon.
Elaine and Lucien are practically strangers, and it will show
How can Elaine shed any light on Lucien’s identity if she doesn’t know him?
One potential problem for Lucien in the future of the series will be that his story and character will be told through the eyes of a woman he barely knows. For the character who went through the call in ACOMAF And AKOVARFeyre’s point of view in these books clearly shows that Lucien is brave, kind, honest and deserving of love. However, we’ll miss out on so much of Lucien’s charm and personality if his story continues through Elaine’s eyes, especially if it’s not even the ending. Ironically, some of Lucien’s best qualities make him a good potential match for Elaine, and they will be wasted if she never makes the effort to get to know him.
“Elaine now looked warily at Lucien. Blinks from time to time. She didn’t give away the slightest hint of what she could see or feel. Nobody.” – Court of Wings and Ruins
Although Lucien was absent from the Band of Exiles for countless chapters of the series, his story faded into the background. If Maas hopes to reintroduce Lucien into the main plot of the next book, the choice to do so through the perspective of Elaine, who has only interacted with him a few times, may prove difficult. This POV also complicates their potential love story as Unfortunately, Elaine’s feelings of resentment are closely tied to her unwanted mating bond..
Lucien deserves happiness more than most characters in these books realize, which adds complexity to his relationship with Elaine. While Lucien deserves to prosper after proving himself to be such a heroic and caring character, his only hope for marriage is with Elaine; his romantic future depends on their potential relationship. Resentment of this pressure from Lucien, whether intentional or not, causes Elaine to feel bitterness towards him, which will undoubtedly manifest itself in the next part of the story.
Elaine plans to abandon the marriage bond and resents Lucien for this
Elaine’s view of Lucien is distorted because she never wanted a marriage bond
Elaine Archeron did not have a typical introduction to the faerie world. On the contrary, at the end Court of Mist and Fury when Elaine became a faerie, she went through a devastating and traumatic series of events that led to her losing life as she knew it. In the midst of this tragic situation, Elaine was ambushed after learning that Lucien, her kidnapper, was her “boyfriend.” The very word “buddy” made Elaine feel dehumanized and reminded her of everything she had just lost.
“The very word ‘mate’ made Elaine feel dehumanized and reminded her of everything she had just lost.”
When you remember this terrible night in every book after Court of Mist and FuryElaine remembers that Lucien hurt her (and rightfully so). Because of this complicated history with Lucien, Elaine’s future point of view will likely be filled with confusing and hurtful feelings towards Lucien that do not accurately reflect his character and unbiased position in the books.
Lucien has been banished once before, and Elaine will do it again
Without the “Group of Exiles” Lucien was left alone in the series
The sad fact is that, as good-natured as he was, Lucien was rejected and ignored by most of the characters he has since considered his friends. ACOMAF. His allies in the Night Court, including Feyre Archeron (who was once his closest friend), sent him alone on missions. It’s high time Lucien got some appreciation and love from the other characters because he’s so underrated in the Maas universe.

If Elaine ever tells Lucien’s story, the prospect will likely seem aloof, distant, and even disdainful.which is less than Lucien deserves. A deeper and clearer understanding of Lucien’s motives, goals and analysis of his intentions will be difficult to achieve through Elaine’s eyes. If she doesn’t take the time to get to know Lucien, her disinterest will likely cloud her analysis and give an inaccurate picture of Lucien.
Elaine and Lucien have the potential to become an SJM power couple, subverting many of the expectations that Maas had all along. Courtyard of Thorns and Roses. However, the beginning of (at least) the next book from Elaine’s point of view fails to portray Lucien positively as their dynamic is so complex and intense. A dark story like theirs, so shrouded in baggage and trauma, would make any woman resent the man she was “attached” to; however, portraying Lucien through this lens would be too far removed to evoke the emotions that Lucien’s character could potentially evoke.
