Eiza Gonzalez's 10 Best Movies and TV Shows

Eiza González

began in her native Mexico, but her best films and TV shows prove that she is now a global star. González began his career in 2007 in Mexico, as a teenager, with soap operas aimed at teenagers, before dedicating himself to music and cinema. As a result, she was a constant presence at awards shows for children and teenagers in Mexico during the late 2000s, winning awards from the Mexican and Argentine Kids' Choice Awards, as well as the People in Spanish.

His big break to a wider international audience would only come in 2017 with Baby Driver. Since then, she has proven herself to be a force on screen, particularly in action films. While she's incredibly fun to watch in action roles, she's also more than proven her chops in dramas. His best films and TV shows make it clear that González is something of a scene-stealer, capable of capturing the audience's attention even when his role is minor.

Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw (2019)

As Margarita/Madame M

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw unites the unlikely duo of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw in the first film derived from the Fast Saga. The titular antiheroes don't cross paths with Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto this time. Instead, they fight Idris Elba's artificially enhanced super soldier, Brixton Lore, with the help of Shaw's sister Hattie and mother Magdelene, played by Vanessa Kirby and Helen Mirren, respectively.

The Fast and the Furious the franchise has steadily grown its cast with each episode, expanding the “family” and allies they have. In this spin-off of the main films, Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham) team up to help Shaw's sister. González plays an ex-lover of Shaw's, but she isn't relegated to just a love interest.

His Madam M is a thief who Hobbs and Shaw ally with in their match against Idris Elba's cybernetically enhanced villain. While the film may go further than is possible for most Fast and Furious movies do, González clearly has fun being in the middle of the action and exchanging jokes with the cast. The chemistry of the cast is what sells these films along with the car chase spectacles.

With the Fast and Furious franchise still ongoing, it would be nice to see González used in other films.

Ambulance (2022)

As Camille “Cam” Thompson

Ambulance comes from the creative mind of Michael Bay, known for his explosive action sequences. While there's plenty of that here, along with a car chase that dominates the film, Ambulance may be one of his most human cinematic efforts because much of the focus is squarely on the main characters.

González plays a paramedic taken hostage by two adopted brothers (Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) after they steal his ambulance during a robbery. González holds his own against the two actors, both known for their dramatic talent. It's a high-energy film that requires all three actors to be at the top of their game.

Of course, the film still relies heavily on action to tell the story, which is why it doesn't rank as high as some of González's other projects among the best.

Satire and suspense, I care a lot is an incredibly dark comedy. It shows the audience some of the worst that humanity has to offer, creating a relatively dark exploration of human relationships, but it does so with some laughs.

González stars alongside Rosamund Pike. While Pike is the conman who works as a caregiver, taking advantage of his charges to get them to support his lifestyle, González is his partner. Her character is morally gray, slightly overshadowed in the film by Pike, but that doesn't mean she doesn't give one of her best performances.

Because all of the characters at the center of the story take reprehensible actions against the vulnerable, it relies heavily on the audience's desire to watch Pike, González, and Peter Dinklage work.. Their performances are stellar.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

As Nyssiana

Produced by James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez, Alita: Battle Angel adapts the Gunnm manga to live-action, featuring Rosa Salazar as the titular cyborg who seeks to rebuild her identity while facing the dark forces plaguing Iron City. With the help of Christoph Waltz's Dr. Ido and Keean Johnson's Hugo, Alita learns to play the futuristic game of Motorball, which could be her ticket to the floating city of Zalem. Unfortunately, not everything is as it seems in the year 2563.

Alita: Battle Angelinspired by the manga GunnmIt's an ambitious film. It features impressive action sequences and special effects, but often gets bogged down in the details. The film can't do everything it tries to do, but it's still visually stunning and worth watching.

Alita: Battle Angel follows the titular character, played by Rosa Salazar, as she wakes up as a cyborg with no memory of her past. She sets out to find her own destiny. González also plays a cyborg, but plays an assassin who works for a criminal leader.

González is really underutilized here. She's an interesting character as both a femme fatale and a cyborg assassin, but her time in the film is relatively short in the grand scheme of the story. For this reason, films that allow audiences to see even more of their stellar performances outperform them.

City of Cut Throat (2020)

City of Cut Throat

While it may not be on lists of the best heist films of all time, City of Cut Throat It's still a fun heist movie. Unlike some of his other recent action roles, González doesn't play one of the members of the heist team, but rather the detective investigating them.

Set in New Orleans after the wreckage of Hurricane Katrina, a group of friends decide to pull off an impressive heist to help change their lives. González investigates the casino they rob, examining all possibilities for discovery.

Although the film has many, some would say too many, twists and turns, and many moving parts, González helps to humanize the investigative angle. Often the detectives in these films are seen as villains because the protagonists are the thieves. González, however, plays his character with great empathymaking it easier to understand your search and your work.

5

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)

As Maia Simmons

...the film she signed up for and the film that ended up on screen are very different.

Godzilla vs. Kong It's one of the best parts of modern Monstroverse. Many fans and critics will likely agree that the battle between the two titans goes on forever, and the inclusion of Mechagodzilla into the mix makes the spectacle incredibly entertaining. However, outside of the film's monsters, there is the human element that helps drive the story forward and provide explanations for the audience.

González, unfortunately, does not appear in a major role in the film. According to the actress herself, the film she signed and the film that ended up on screen are very different. Many things changed in the middle of filming, and several scenes of her character ended up on the cutting room floor.

Despite this, González gives a great performance. She's a grown-up version of a high school mean girl, intent on getting what she wants and unafraid to voice her opinion in a room full of people who might not agree with her. Her short time in the film is a fantastic hint at what could have happened if her role had been expanded, and it's a great argument for giving her the chance to play a villain instead of a heroine.

4

The Machine (2024)

As Irasema

González steals a lot of the scenes in which he appears.

González started out in Mexican television and did not completely abandon work in Mexico in favor of working in other parts of the world. La Máquina is proof of this in the limited series launching in 2024. The Mexican boxing drama is a sports drama, a thriller and a love story all in one.

Gael García Bernal stars as the titular character, an aging boxer whose own body has begun to betray him. When he loses an important match, his manager (Diego Luna) sets up a rematch to help him get a title shot. The problem is keeping things like your own hallucinations under control to get you there.

González stars as Irasema, the businessman's ex-wife who is also a reporter. Her connection to the main characters and her professional background put her right in the middle of the series' action, despite the show being clearly constructed as a vehicle for Bernal and Luna.. González steals a lot of the scenes in which he appears.

3Body Problemfrom the same team that commanded Game of Thronesalongside writer and producer Alexander Woo, is a science fiction series created for Netflix. It is an adaptation of the Chinese story of the same name, and the first time the adaptation has strived to create an international story. Although the cast is still predominantly Asian, the story's plot expands beyond China to include the rest of the world and, consequently, a more international cast.

González stars as one of the “Oxford Five,” the scientists investigating the extraterrestrial mystery at the center of the show. Her character works with nanotechnology, something that continually comes up in the series. Auggie spends part of the series watching a countdown that only she can see, and her actions generate much of the conflict in the series.

While the show can get bogged down in its focus on the science of history rather than the fiction of science fiction, González provides a very human element to the series. Her performance earned her an Astra TV nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Drama Series.

2

Baby Driver (2017)

As Monica “Honey” Costello

Alongside Jon Hamm, González and Hamm practically steal every scene they appear in.

Baby Driver provided González with his breakout role outside of Mexican TV and cinema. The film introduced her to audiences around the world, even though her supporting role was relatively small. Alongside Jon Hamm, González and Hamm practically steal every scene they appear in.

The film follows Ansel Elgort as “Baby,” a getaway driver who decides he might want to get out of the criminal business when he falls in love with a waitress played by Lily James. González and Hamm are part of the crew he is forced to work with.

González is, as is typical in many of his action films, the only female member of the criminal crew, and her character is Hamm's wife. The duo paint a very “Bonnie and Clyde” view of their characters that is incredibly fun to watch. She may not have as big of a role here compared to some of her other films, but it really provides a great showcase of how talented González is with a smaller role.

The Ungentlemanly Ministry of War (2023)

As Marjorie Stewart

The Ministry of War Ungentlemanly is a World War II film that follows a top-secret fighting unit formed by Winston Churchill to hunt down Nazis. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie and based on the book The Ministry of War Ungentlemanly: How Churchill's Secret Warriors Set Europe ablaze and Gave Modern Black Ops, by Damien Lewis.

Release date

Execution time

120 minutes

Writers

Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, Arash Amel, Guy Ritchie

The Ungentlemanly Ministry of War comes from the creative direction of Guy Ritchie and is similar in style and tone to films like Inglourious Basterds. As a result, the film is incredibly violent, humorous and offers its own take on the story.

The Ungentlemanly Ministry of War follows a group of spies who face off against German soldiers during the film version of Operation Postmaster. Although it is far from the actual events of World War II, the film's cast of Henry Cavill, Henry Golding, Alan Ritchson and González herself is so fun to watch that audiences probably won't be concerned about whether or not the film presents fact or fiction. for them.

Eiza González may not have as high a kill count as some of the film's other stars, but her scenes give her some great scenery to chew on. She's fantastic in the role and it's definitely one of her best yet.
