Echoes Of Wisdom finally brings back an item that’s been long overdue

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom draws a lot of inspiration from both old and new Zelda games, and one item that’s finally returning has been missing from the series for far too long. Reusing and remixing ideas from past games has always been a staple of the series, and it’s not uncommon for concepts that don’t appear for a while to eventually find a home again. Since this is the first completely new top-down game in over a decade, it’s no surprise that Echo of Wisdom revives a lot of dormant material.

What does The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Particularly flexible is the item duplication system, which allows each enemy and multiple objects to serve dual purpose as an echo. It goes without saying that including as many interesting echoes as possible would be a big priority, and enemies like torch slugs that have been absent for years would consequently have plenty of incentive to return. One great item doesn’t actually show up as an echohowever, instead appears as part of the toolkit for the Swordsman form, which allows Zelda to fight the way Link normally does.

Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Introduces the Return of Bombchuss

A classic Zelda item gets new life

Zelda starts without the ability to fight directly in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdombut she soon takes on the form of a swordsman. While the focus is obviously on the sword, Zelda finds a bow for the form in a Gerudo Desert dungeon and eventually obtains a bomb in the Eldin Volcano. The Bomb is not just a bomb, but a dual-use attack option that can be turned into a Bombcha. holding down the A button longer.

Compared to other blast echo variants in the game, such as the randomly flopping Bombchu, Bombchu performs precise attacks that can be incredibly useful for anyone who frequently uses the Swordsman form.

Unlike regular bombs, which can be thrown but do not have their own mobility, Bombchus are capable of rushing towards a target.. By default they will run in a straight line until they explode, but Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom joins the ranks of games that have a targeting option. Bye Phantom Hourglass allowed players to use the DS stylus to map out paths for Bombchuss, Echo of Wisdom integrates the aiming feature into the standard aiming system, making it relatively easy to aim while the timer is ticking down.

Bombchu has been absent from Zelda games for a long time

Gone for many years, but never forgotten

Although Bombhus made several iconic performances in Zelda row, Echo of Wisdom marks the end of a long drought in mainstream gaming. Bombhi was a staple at the turn of the century, introduced in Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Oracle of Seasons, And Oracle of the Ages. Their last appearance in the main franchise so far was in Phantom Hourglasshowever released in 2007. Meanwhile they appeared in Super Smash Brothers. games, Hyrule WarriorsAnd Cadence of Heroesproving that the unique explosive is not easily forgotten.

Connected

Breath of the Wild And Tears of the Kingdom seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring Bombchus back, especially since a lot of attention had been paid to improvements to TOTC. They’re ideal for open-ended puzzles, even if the physics aren’t as dynamic as rolling round bombs. No matter what, Echo of Wisdom this is a great place for them to return, and The game’s focus on spatial awareness and capabilities teaches players how to use the Bomb well.

Zelda can’t use Bombchu with the same reckless abandon as the Echoes available outside of Swordsman form, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth experimenting with, especially after the upgrades make Swordsman form much longer lasting than it did at the start. . This is also just a good example Zelda the franchise’s reluctance to permanently abandon valuable ideas, which is one of many returning features in the game that haven’t always appeared consistently. Bombhus can be a huge asset for Zelda experience and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom made the right choice by bringing them back.

Strange rifts are tearing Hyrule apart, and with Link missing, it’s up to Princess Zelda to save the kingdom. Armed with the Tri-Wand and with the help of a mysterious fairy, she must solve puzzles, create “echoes” of the environment, and battle enemies as she travels through new regions and uncovers hidden secrets.
