Fresh off its return to the big screen in grand fashion, the first teaser trailer for Alien: Earth has arrived. The TV show originated from Fargo creator Noah Hawley and is said to be set roughly 30 years before the events of Ridley Scott’s iconic sci-fi horror movie, though specific plot details have been largely kept under wraps. Hawley has assembled a star-studded list for Alien: EarthS Castle, including Sidney Chandler, Alex Lauter, Samuel Blankin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Keith Young and Timothy Olyphant, among others.
Although no premiere date has been set for the show yet, Fx revealed the former Alien: Earth Teaser trailer.
The video, as seen above, offers a very brief tease of the titular planet being reflected on the head of a xenomorph, who then raises his head and turns his internal mouth at the camera. The teaser then ends with the confirmation that the show is on track for a 2025 release window and will be released on FX on Hulu.
Alien: Earth takes a major turn for the franchise
In addition to being the first TV show, it is also the first time it will be set on Earth.
Alien: Earth Comes at an interesting time for the long-running sci-fi franchise as it finds itself rising in popularity again. After Scott’s divisive prequels, Prometheus And Alien: CovenantThe series took a short hiatus and reconfigured its future plans, including scrapping a third installment to the aforementioned movies, and instead continuing with the recently released Interquel. Alien: Romulus. Co-written and directed by Fede Álvarez, the film has garnered the best reviews of the franchise since James Cameron’s 1986 sequel and is off to a strong box office start.

Despite the positive groundswell, though, Alien: Earth Also proving to be something of a major, risky move for the sci-fi franchise. Before Hawley’s show, multiple attempts at a television extension of the movies often died in various states of development hell as 20th Century Fox continued to maintain its focus on the film side of things and various other media platforms, including video games and action figures. . . Two animated shows are almost off the ground inspired by Cameron AliensBut failed to get enough steam to make it to production.
The other main reason Alien: Earth A major risk for the franchise is that this is the first time the titular planet will serve as the setting for a story, except for the Alien vs. Predator Movies. Part of the thrill of the original movies was that the vacuum of space left nowhere for the human characters to escape from the xenomorphs, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere. However, with Hawley having previous success reimagining iconic franchises for television with the Coen brothers-inspired Fargo And X-Men Adaptation LegionThe risks seem more than likely to pay off.
