Just go aheadThe soundtrack features the perfect mix of music to drive the story every step of the way. The romantic comedy stars Adam Sandler as a plastic surgeon whose big move is to pretend he’s married so he can hook up with women without having to call them again. However, just when he thinks he’s found a girl he’d actually like to marry, he needs his assistant at work (Jennifer Aniston) to pretend to be his soon-to-be ex-wife. Of course, this leads to an even more outrageous series of events and an unlikely love story.
Just go ahead was initially released in 2011, but came to streaming on Netflix in 2024. Directed by Dennis Dugan, the Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston film stars Brooklyn Decker, Bailee Madison, Nicole Kidman, Griffin Gluck and more. Just go ahead also features a Happy Madison soundtrack Regular productions Rupert Gregson-Williams, although there is also a fantastic selection of rock and pop songs that play throughout the story. From The Police and Bob Marley to BoB and Rihanna, this romantic comedy has a variety of great sounds to enjoy.

When all the songs from the Just Go With It soundtrack are played in the film
Every song and what happens when it plays
“So Lonely” by the Police – After Sandler’s Danny overheard his fiancé mocking his sister and talking about how much she was cheating on him, he called off the wedding and took his grief to the bar. Here, The Police’s “So Lonely” plays appropriately in the background as he meets an attractive girl and realizes that his wedding ring is the perfect tool for nights of no-strings-attached romance.
“Burning Fire” by Sean Kingston – After a day of work, Danny goes to a party in Just go aheadwhere he ends up meeting Palmer – the girl who makes him decide he wants to settle down. As the film transitions to this party scene, the song “Fire Burning” by Sean Kingston can be heard.
“Nothin’ On You (feat. Bruno Mars)” by BoB – When Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) first appeared, Danny saw her walking towards him in slow motion. It was obvious to him that this girl was different, and the doctor didn’t even bother trying to use his old wedding ring tactics on her. Palmer’s slow-motion entrance was followed in Just go ahead for the song “Nothin’ On You” by BoB featuring Bruno Mars.
“Umbrella” by Rihanna – Danny wanted his assistant Katherine to look like she was married to a wealthy plastic surgeon when he introduced her to Palmer, so he took her shopping. This led to a classic romantic comedy shopping montage, which played along to a remixed version of Rhianna’s song “Umbrella.”

“Roxanne” of the Police – Danny and Katherine had been friends and colleagues for years, but never thought of considering each other romantically. However, during the first time Katherine pretended to be Devlin, Danny realized how attractive his assistant really is. During dinner with Palmer, it was Katherine’s turn to go into slow motion, this time to the sound of the song “Roxanne”, another song by The Police.
“Brought to tears” by police – Although Katherine’s time pretending to be Devlin was short, the accidental revelation that she had children meant that Danny’s deception could not end. In an attempt to maintain the false facade, the “family“met Palmer at JD McFunnigan’s, a children’s arcade restaurant. As Danny, Katherine, Maggie and Michael approached the building (and watched the child throw his drink at his pregnant mother in slow motion), the song “Driven to Tears” by The police can be heard.
“Hawaii” by the Beach Boys – Michael managed to convince Danny to take everyone to Hawaii for a family bonding trip, which meant, once again, that everyone would have to accept lies and deceit. When the group boarded the plane and landed on the beautiful island, the perfectly fitting song “Hawaii” by the Beach Boys played.
“Amor Tainted” by Soft Cell – A Hawaiian vacation meant Decker’s Palmer had even more opportunities to look flawless. At one point, she is seen walking along the beach (in slow motion again) in a bikini to the song “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell.
Police “Canary in a Coal Mine” – Among the group’s adventures in Hawaii was a day-long hike that saw them experience several uncomfortable circumstances. While everyone was enjoying the tour, another song from The Police played, this time “Canary in a Coalmine”.
“Starting” by Madcon – Once again, Danny underestimated how attractive his assistant could be. After the exhausting hike, Katherine decided to strip down and swim with Palmer in a beautiful Hawaiian waterfall and natural pool. Since she was only in a bikini, Madcon’s song “Beggin'” accompanies the shocked expression on Danny’s face.
“Love is the seventh wave” by Sting – Danny planned an entire day to pretend to be a good father to impress Palmer. However, he eventually proved that he really had a way with children. Danny took Michael and Maggie to the pool to teach the boy how to swim and was finally successful. The emotional moment was accompanied by “Love is the Seventh Wave” by Sting (this time without the rest of the Police).
A running joke in Just Go with It is that Palmer is a huge NSYNC fan, a fact that reveals how much younger she actually is than Danny.
“Bye, bye” NSYNC – A running joke throughout Just go ahead is that Palmer is a huge NSYNC fan, a fact that reveals how much younger she actually is than Danny. At one point, Palmer is in the shower blasting the boy band’s song “Bye Bye Bye” — a fact that Katherine can’t help but poke fun at.
“He’eia” from Hapa – At first, Danny is the only one who benefits from the big mistake he and his assistant were making. Just go ahead. However, when Katherine ran into her old college rival, Devlin, she couldn’t bring herself to admit that she was a single mother. So, she pretended Danny was her husband. When the group goes on a double date to a luau, Hapa’s song “He’eia” can be heard in the background.
“More adorable than you” by BoB – Danny and Katherine were surprised by their chemistry during their double date with Devlin, and it was clear that neither of them really wanted to say goodnight. After returning to his room, Danny seemed to decide he couldn’t let this moment pass. So, he started going back to Katherine’s room to make something happen. B.o.B’s song “Lovelier Than You” played as he traveled through the hotel, but ended abruptly when Palmer appeared in the elevator.
“Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol – Once Danny started thinking he had feelings for Katherine, Palmer decided it was a good idea to get married. When Katherine didn’t object, Danny agreed to everything, and the next night and morning there was a montage of Palmer planning an impromptu wedding in Hawaii. This montage was accompanied by the song “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol. Starting Katherine’s conversation with Devlin, an instrumental cover of the song can be heard again.
“Is This Love” by Bob Marley and The Wailers – During the final scenes of Just go aheadSandler’s voice-over narration tells the audience everything that happened after he confessed his true feelings to Katherine. As the scene changes to Katherine and Danny’s wedding, the song “Is This Love” by Bob Marley & The Wailers plays. This continues as the bride and groom dance, joke about the soul-patch bassist, and prepare to live happily ever after.
“Next to you” from the police – The last song heard on Just go ahead is “Next to You” by the Police. It plays as the film rolls to the end credits, wrapping up Katherine and Danny’s story.
