The Lovecraftian fishing game Dredge It's now free for a very limited time on the Epic Store. The 2023 title is a cozy fishing game with increasingly dark undertones, and has received praise from critics and gamers alike for deftly merging genres that seem entirely unrelated to each other.
Dredge is currently available for free on Epic Games Store as part of the gaming company's holiday giveaway series. Fans who want to get the title completely free will have to act quickly, as the title will only be distributed in the store until December 25th at 11am (EST). After Dredge is removed, a new game will replace it as that day's free offering.
Dredge combines fishing and horror into a unique experience

Dredge allows players to control a small fishing trawler through the waters during the day, fishing and exploring the waters. Players can sell their daily catch to locals and learn more about the areas' strange history and underlying secrets. At night, the waters become much less welcoming and players who make the mistake of staying out too late find themselves at the mercy face the monsters that are lurking in the dark depths of the murky waters.
The title caught the attention of many players when it was released in 2023 as the first title from developer Black Salt Games. The indie game was a hit at launch and is currently sitting at a respectable 80% in Metacritic. The game was also nominated for Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game at the 2023 Game Awards.

Dredge is the sixth game being distributed for free on the Epic Store during the holiday season. The event began on December 19th and has so far given away the following additional games for free:
- Vampire Survivors
- Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles
- Terra Tech
- Sorcerer of Legend
- Dark and Darker – Legendary Status
While you can no longer get these games for free from the store, Epic Games will offer an additional free mystery game every day until January 1, 2025. At that point, the store will return to its normal one-free-game schedule. day per week. There are currently no hints about which games will be free after the prize draw. Dredge ends. However, judging by the titles that have already been showcased in recent days, it seems likely that the rest of the holiday giveaway event will feature a varied selection of games to suit all tastes.
