Warning: SPOILERS for episode 6 of Dragon Ball DaimaIt has been shown that trust is a fragile thing in Dragon Ball Daimaespecially when it comes to Goku’s new allies. While Goku’s laid-back and carefree nature often leads him to blindly accept others at face value, Shin is the complete opposite. He makes up for Goku’s lack of observation and becomes increasingly suspicious of Glory. Shin keeps his guard up in the Demon Realm and writes down everything he observes.

In the previous episode, Shin began to dismantle the inconsistencies in Glorio’s story, realizing that things didn’t add up well. It is clear to Shin that Glorio is lying to them and probably hiding their true motivations. As Shin’s doubts grow, he becomes more committed to uncovering the truth and getting all the information he can.

Shin’s suspicion of Glorio continues to grow in Dragon Ball Daima

The atmosphere and tense atmosphere reflect Shin’s skepticism about Glorio’s motivations.

Shin’s suspicion about Glory increases the tension in episode 6 of Dragon Ball Daimaespecially as his observations and questions become more pointed. While the group camps in the caves, Pansy begins asking Glorio a series of questions, to which he gives short, evasive answers. Then, just as Shin intervenes with more direct questions about Glorio’s motivations, Glorio gives an answer that is too convenient and abruptly asks the group to get some rest, effectively ending Shin’s chance to ask more.

The setting amplifies the exchange, with the campfire casting dark shadows on the characters’ faces. However, it is the scene that follows that subtly reinforces the growing rift between Shin and Glorio. Although the two share a frame, they are separated by a silhouette, symbolizing the growing discord in trust between the characters. As soon as Glório stands up to end the conversation, his eyes are covered by shadow, a look that evokes distrust and gives yet another hint that Glório is hiding his true intentions.

Soon after Glorio and Goku face each other, Shin asks Goku to take the fight more seriously in a calculated attempt to assess Glory’s true strength. At this time, Shin uses Goku as a tool to assess Glorio’s power, knowing full well that Goku’s strength could lead Glorio to show his full potential. Although somewhat subtle, it demonstrates Shin’s resourcefulness in gathering information through indirect means.

The match itself also serves as a path to Shin will check Glorio’s intentions. If Glorio had responded more aggressively, it could have confirmed Shin’s suspicions and revealed that Glorio was not truly aligned with them. By using Goku to fight Glory more seriously, Shin tests Glory’s physical limits and has the chance to analyze his behavior while focusing on the battle. This careful and calculated strategy further proves Shin’s role as protector in Dragon Ball Daima.

Dragon Ball DAIMA is the fifth series overall in the action-adventure anime franchise. It features most of the classic cast members as aged versions of themselves, including Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma. The series was announced at NYCC 2023, with creator Akira Toriyama returning to manage DAIMA.
