Warning: Contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima Episode #2Dragon Ball Has always boasted some of the best villains in anime and manga history. From his early buddies like the great demon king Piccolo to the highly underrated Jiren, the franchise has consistently pumped out iconic antagonists one after the other. now, Dragon Ball Dima introduced his main antagonist, the newest king of the Demon Realm, Gomah, who may not look like much But seems to be hiding quite a bit more under the surface.
In fact, Gomah acting as the main antagonist is something of a return to the roots of the series. In appearance, he resembles the kind of villain more common in Dragon Balls earlier arcs, like the pesky Emperor Pilaf and his troublesome gang. Compared to later terrible Dragon Ball Villains, like full power Frieza or Perfect Cell, Gomah doesn’t seem to stack up, at least in stature. However, according to Supreme Key in the latest episode of Always, Gomah is actually much more dangerous than he thinks.
The extent of his power remains to be seen, though if he is able to pose a threat to Goku and the others after their extensive battle with Majin Buu, Gomah would need to possess terrifying abilities. It is also unknown just how greatly diminished the heroes’ powers have become now that they have shrunk down into children, only adding to the threat of Dragon Balls newest villain.
Gomah must have terrible power to put up a challenge
The Z fighters possess underworldly strength after the Buu Saga
By the time the Majin Buu Saga ended, Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan all had almost immeasurable strength. Dragon Ball Super Speaking to the wild power the fighters shared by Bringing a deity to earth who possesses a type of ‘god key’ Completely different from what humans or Saiyans have at their disposal. Given what the Z Fighters were capable of at this point in history, Godhead just seemed like a natural evolution.
Now that Always Also takes place after the defeat of Buu, Gomah faces similarly powerful heroes to the ones that Beerus so easily deals with before Goku reaches his Super Saiyan God form. The difference is that Goma isn’t a god like Beerus, or a constantly regenerating fighting machine like BV, or even a combination of all the warriors’ strengths like Cell. The arrogant and eccentric king of the Demon Realm was only seen as conniving and paranoid until now Dragon Ball Dima.
But Goma will not be the first Dragon Ball Evil whose Strength is much more frightening than its appearance. First Form Frieza wasn’t terribly feared during his time in Namek, but remained a force to be reckoned with throughout the story. Originating in the mysterious Demon Realm, it is possible that Gomah possesses abilities never before seen in the series, which could ultimately give him an advantage over the now weakened Goku. It is also incredibly likely that Always‘s future fights will showcase more than just brute strength.
Supreme Kai warns that Gomah is cunning
Gomah will likely rely on more than brute force
like Dragon BallS fighters increase in power, introducing new villains who are constantly stronger than the last becomes a little complicated. In order to compete with the likes of Goku and Vegeta, many are given gimmicks or abilities that make them difficult to beat. Buu himself was unique in that he was not actually stronger than Goku or Gohan, but had advanced regenerative abilities and a chaotic, unpredictable nature.
Given that Always Has shown from Goma so far, it is likely that he will also rely on special abilities, as Supreme Key said that He is not only incredibly strong but also very cunning. Although it hasn’t seen any use, Gomah carries a staff which may indicate that he is able to use magic in some way, like the wizard Babidi from the previous arc. Magical abilities are not deeply explored in Dragon Ball Until Supers Moro Arc, which takes place several years down the timeline of events.
If Gomah shares any of Moro’s abilities, he will be far more threatening than anyone could have predicted. There is also the possibility that he has access to some transformations, viz Dragon Ball Has never been shy about including sudden power-ups. Regardless of speculation, Dragon Ball Dima has promised an interesting villain in Gomah, and his new abilities will soon be on display after a very strong start to the franchise’s newest anime.
