Dragon Age: The Veilguard – How to unlock the library passage in the lighthouse

There is a secret passage to the library balcony in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard which Rook can unlock by completing a statue puzzle around the Lighthouse. Like other games in the series, Guard of the Veil is full of secrets and puzzles for players to discover, starting almost immediately when Rook enters the Lighthouse before the second main story mission. Along one of the rounded walls of the library, they can read a note that gives them a clue on how to open this secret passage.

According to the note, three couples must meet face to face under the sky. Refers to six statues in the Lighthouse Courtyard that can be turned towards each other. Rook will need to find and turn the statues to face his date if they want to gain access to the secret passage. However, upon completing this, players will have to wait Chapter 8, Shadows of Plagueto finish unlocking the balcony.

Where to find the first pair of statues

Start behind Bellara and Neve’s rooms

The first pair of statues that Rook will need to move are simple to find. These are directly across from each other behind Bellara and Neve’s rooms. As none of the rooms have a back door, Rook should not enter the rooms as this may trigger a cutscene. Instead, they will want to walk around the outside, watching to make sure they don’t fall off the ledges by mistake. Neve’s room is tricky, as there is no way around the ledge outside her door. Instead, Rook can go down the stairs leading to Neve’s door and through the passage below the room to reach the statue.

Turn the two statues so they are facing each other. To do this, approach the lever that comes out of each statue and press the button Interact button on the prompt that appears. Each statue will rotate 90 degrees at a time.

Where to find the second pair of statues

Go to the balcony and out of Lucanis’ room

The second set of statues are further away from each other. Players will find one on the side of the building that contains Lucanis’ kitchen and bedroom. Once facing that door, head up the stairs on the right to find the statue waiting at the top. Turn it to face the front door of the Lighthouse Library.

Then, head straight towards the Janitor’s Workshop, passing on the left side, and climb the stairs on the left. At the top is the other statue. Turn this one so it faces the kitchen and Lucanis’s room.

Where to find the third pair of statues

Continue to Varanda Center

From where Rook will be after turning the second pair of statues, follow the balcony path to the right. Under the awning you can find the last two statues next to each other. Turn them both inwards so they are facing each other. There will be a mechanical noise, almost like a click, letting Rook know that the puzzle has worked. From here, return to the Lighthouse’s main entrance and return to the Library, where the round door on the right side will open to allow Rook to enter.

How to unlock the passage in the music room

Recruit Emmerich to complete the puzzle

The passage that is unlocked by rotating the statues initially leads to the Music Room. Here, players will find some chests with some items they must pick up. There is also another passage door with two incense bowls, one on each side. Until Rook continued to Chapter 8, Shadows of the Plagueand recruited Emmerich Volkarin, they will not be able to proceed. This final stage requires the Wisp mechanic used to complete Emmerich’s recruitment quest.

Rook can find a Wisp in the music room that can help open the secret passage there. To collect the Wisp, players must simply have Rook walk past it and he will begin following it. Rook will need to bring it closer to one of the two bowls and it will click into place.

The second Wisp is a little more difficult to work with, as it is a bit far from the Music Room. Rook can find that Wisp back on the balcony between the third pair of statues from before. However, they will need to move quickly when collecting it, as it will stop following them and return to its starting location if it takes too long to reach its destination.

Players must have Rook bring the second Wisp back to the Music Room and place it in the second bowl. This will unlock the passage and open a portal. Once Rook passes through the portal, they will reach the library’s balcony.

The Janitor then thanks Rook for helping fix it and will grant a discount on all future updates on the Workshop. Additionally, if players choose to have Rook jump off the balcony instead of returning the way they entered, they will receive an achievement called Nostalgia trip in Dragon Age: The Veil Guarda nod to the Inquisitors who survived fall damage by jumping from the tower in Skyhold instead of using the stairs.
