At the end of Regrets of the Dire Wolf side mission in Dragon Age: The Veil GuardRook can come face to face with Mythal and try to convince her to help his cause. After Rook and the party find all six wolf figurines and see Solas’ memories contained within them, they will consult Morrigan about what they saw. She will suggest looking for a remnant of the elven god Mythal, who can be convinced to help the party in their fight against the other gods.
Like others Dragon Age games, players who choose to track down the Essence of Mythal in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard he must choose the correct dialogue options to convince the goddess that Rook and his cause are worthy of help. Failure to do so will result in a difficult fight. Mythal Essence proves useful near the end of the game for defeating a powerful boss, unlocking a perk before confronting the gods, and even achieving a different ending to Dragon Age: The Veil Guard.
How to get Mythal’s help in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Convincing or Fighting a God
There are three ways to obtain Mythal Essence Dragon Age: The Veil Guard. Fighting it is the most direct and least advisable way. Once the dialogue begins, Rook can choose the option, “You won’t help us“ (or, like an elf, “Die, false god“) to instantly trigger the fight. This can also be done at any other point in the conversation, choosing the “Forget. I will fight with you“ option.
Mythal transforms into a Superior Dragon Level 45and the fight against her can be challenging if players go in unprepared. Rewards for defeating Mythal include Mythal Essence, XP, 300 Fortune Lords Strength, Dragon Bone (Valuable Item), Dragonfire Catalyst (Legendary Material), and 10 Etheric Remnants.
However, there are two distinct ways to convince Mythal to help peacefully. The first is to complete Bellara’s companion missions at the beginning of the game. Doing so opens the dialog option, “We stop Anaris“, under the argument, “We must stop the gods.” If Rook chooses this option, Mythal will be instantly convinced and offer her help. Otherwise, players will need to choose the correct responses in the conversation to successfully persuade her to their side. During this conversation, Rook can present his case in four arguments:
- We must stop the plague.
- We must stop the gods.
- We are worthy.
- Solas is helping me.
They can be selected in any order and Rook must choose the best dialogue option under at least three of them to gain Mythal’s favor and persuade her to help. The table below shows each topic, as well as the best answer, an acceptable answer, and an inappropriate answer that will result in a fight.

Upon convincing Mythal to help, she will freely offer what’s left of herself as a figurine similar to Solas’ memory fragment wolf figurines. Rook will also receive XP, 250 Veil Jumpers Strength and Mythal’s Light (Unique Longsword).
