Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Bellara must keep or release the file

Dragon Age: The Veil Guard tasks new protagonist Rook with saving Thedas from the newly released Evanuris, gathering allies along the way. An early-game companion who joins the team is the wonderfully cheerful Bellara Lutare, who represents the Veil Jumper faction and uses ancient elven artifacts almost like an artificer. Bellara's personal quest connects perfectly with the main plot of The Veil Guard as well as her faction's goals as she strives to unlock long-lost elven knowledge.

Companion missions in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard all offer something a little different as each member of Rook's team tries to face the shadows of their past. Completing a companion's questline will unlock Veilguard Hero status for that character who, in addition to new equipment and skills, will guarantee survival in the final battle of Minrathous. At the end of each companion's mission, a decision must be made, which Rook can help with in most cases, which for Bellara is about something bigger than herself.

Bellara's quest is more than her own goals

So much was lost to the elves

Bellara's companion mission has some similarities to those of some of her teammates, as there are several companion missions that are deeply personal and involve family. When recruiting her at the beginning The Veil GuardBellara will discover a crystal that will briefly present itself as Nadas Dirthalen before being deactivated. However, shortly after, Bellara makes another discovery that shakes her entire world. when his brother Cyrian is found alive. Bellara's relief is painfully short-lived, as Cyrian is apparently under the thumb of Anaris, one of the Forgotten, who is using dark rituals to turn people into demons.

The rest of Bellara's mission is a balance between getting information from Nada Dirthalen to stop Anaris and trying to convince Cyrian not to help the ancient elven warlord. After a final confrontation with Anaris results in Cyrian's death, Bellara is heartbroken, but must also make a difficult decision on behalf of your people. Back at the Lighthouse, Bellara will ask Rook for advice as she faces the choice of keeping the spirit of the Archive or letting it go.

What will happen if Bellara keeps the file

Keeping the file can bring long-term risks

The first option is to maintain the Archive, allowing the elves of Thedas access to the knowledge contained within. However, as Bellara will point out, This runs the risk of someone misusing the knowledge or even falling into the wrong hands. Bellara is tempted to keep the information as it could help the elves regain aspects of their past and former glory, pointing out that even with all the work the Veil Jumpers and the Dalish have done, they still only know a fraction of what the ancient elves they did. could do.

If the Archive is kept, Bellara will gain the Archivist's Mail armor and the new Lingering Strike ability. This is best for a support build for Bellara and pairs well with the warrior Rookswith his Replenish ability now also applying Weaken to nearby enemies. Bellara is one of the best companions for healing spec, as she has a passive, Contingency, that will automatically activate whenever Rook is low on health. However, if you are planning to use Bellara as a healer, it is best to choose Neve to dismantle the wards, as any chosen companion will be permanently unavailable.

Ability

Bellara's Replenish ability now applies Weakened in a 20-foot radius around Rook. Whenever Bellara applies Weakened, it also deals 200 lightning damage and leaves the target Shocked.

Armor

Detonating a Destroyed enemy detonates another nearby Destroyed enemy. Enemies near the second detonation become vulnerable to electrical damage.

The result of keeping the Archive is not fully felt in The Guard of the Veil, with the only difference being the type of funeral Bellara holds for Cyrian. With access to Nadas Dirthalen Bellara will hold a traditional Elvenhan funeral for her brotherembracing his people's past and honoring their sacrifice. Only time will tell if keeping Anaris' archive will help the elves regain parts of their Elvenhan identity, or if unseen forces could use it against them, as Bellara feared.

What will happen if Bellara releases the file

Abandoning the file could allow Bellara and her people to move forward

The other option for Bellara is to free the spirit of the Archive, which will mean that No one can ever gain access to the dangerous knowledge, but it will cost the elves a piece of their history. Bellara presents this choice to Rook, using her brother Cyrian as an example of how, even with the best of intentions, dangerous knowledge can cause significant harm. Given that the information in the Archive is Anaris's interpretation of history and aligns with his goals as a former warlord, Bellara's concerns about what information might be contained in the Dirthalen Nadas are valid.

Bellara works fantastically with Harding or Lucanis, as they both apply Sundering to their attacks.

If the Archive is released, Bellara will receive the Reborn Leathers armor and Veilguard's Chain Lightning Hero ability. Both the armor and the new ability are brilliant for a DPS-focused Bellaraallowing her to defeat groups of enemies and making all of her attacks much stronger. This build will obviously work better with some classes than others, but it's great for tanking Rooks, and since Bellara's detonations are much stronger, it's best paired with other companions that apply Sundered.

Ability

Bellara's weapon attacks Shocked enemies in a chain of lightning, dealing 100 lightning damage. Shocked's effect is 10% stronger.

Armor

Detonations apply Shocked to all enemies. Detonations deal an additional 200 electrical damage.

If the Archive is freed, Bellara will hold a Dalish funeral for Cyrian, where she will appear genuinely sorry for losing the knowledge. However, that doesn't mean it's a wrong choice. Overcoming grief and loss is difficult, and Bellara and her brother spent a lot of time searching for Nadas Dirthalen. Immediately afterwards Bellara may feel remorse because the elves no longer have the Archive it still seems a necessary step for the Dalish to fully overcome the Evanuris and forge a new identity for their people.

As with Emmrich's choice regarding Manfred, there is no right or wrong answer to Bellara's quest in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard. Bellara's decision can be approached from a story and RPG perspective, where Rook's origin and race may have a significant influence. The alternative is to decide the Archive's fate based on Rook's build and the group's combat dynamics, as each choice offers different benefits to Bellara's combat abilities. Finally, given the impact Bellara's choice could have on the future of elven culture, fans will have their fingers crossed that this is followed through in the future. Dragon Age games.
