The recent former Lapras event in Pokémon TCG Pocket introduced players to several exciting new promo cards, creating a surprisingly powerful combo that can catch opponents by surprise. At first glance, the Mankey promo card may not seem very notable, but when it evolves into Primeape, it becomes a game changer. Primeape can be a valuable card in fighting decks, acting as one of the most powerful Genetic Apex cards in the mobile game.
With more expansions coming soon, this card can be easily overlooked in Pokémon TCG Pocket. However, its potential to increase the strength of Fighting-type decks makes it a must-have. Thanks to the Lapras ex promotional event, This card is easily acquired and it might make it worth changing tactics to focus on your power. For those who like to deal big damage early on, this card begs to be used in battle.
The Primeape Advantage – Delivering 100 damage with ease
Players can easily purchase the Mankey-Primape combo in the Lapras ex Promo event
The Lapras ex promo event takes place from November 5th to 18th, 2024, giving players the chance to take on a new set of Solo Battles. In these battles, players will face a variety of Lapras EX decks at various difficulty levels. Winning a battle rewards players with Shop Tickets, Shine Dust and, most importantly, Promo Packs – an excellent way to obtain the Mankey card.
While Mankey may seem like an average basic Pokémon, with 60 HP and a 20 damage attack, its evolution makes it a valuable card to acquire. When evolved, Primeape becomes highly effective in Fighting-type decks thanks to an attack called “Fight Back”. Initially, “Fight back” deals 40 damage for just two combat energy pointsbut if Primeape has already taken damage, the attack jumps to a whopping 100 damage. This is an extremely efficient card to start dealing big damage, rivaling fast cards like Pikachu ex and Articuno ex.
A new star for combat decks
Adding this card will add some aggression and power to a deck
Fighting-type decks have seen a rise in popularity within the game, thanks to powerful cards like Marowak ex, which has become a fan favorite with its high attack potential. For players looking to further improve this type of deck, adding Mankey and its evolution, Primeape offers a new option. When Primeape and Marowak ex are partners in a fighting deck, players can deploy highly aggressive tacticslooking to surprise the opponent with huge damage scores.
The Sandshrew-to-Sandslash evolution line is currently a popular option to give the deck some stability. While this option is reliable, it’s best to trade these Pokémon for Mankey and Primeape. What these cards lack in consistency, they make up for in speed and power. With minimal energy consumption and a huge amount of damage for a stage one evolution, Primeape could be a worthwhile risk compared to the average Sandslash card. For players who take risks with these cards, Mankey and Primeape can be a powerful addition to Fighting-type decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
