The Wonder Pick system is simultaneously one of the best and most frustrating mechanics in Pokémon TCG Pocketdoing a supposed trick to ensure that the card you are looking for is even more attractive. Submitted by interested party TCGP fans, the Wonder Pick trick supposedly allows you to take advantage of a glitch where, if you press the skip button during the shuffle animation, the five cards of each pick will remain in the same positions when flipped. Hypothetically, this means you can instantly memorize and choose the card you want.
For regular players who know very well how Wonder Picks work, this kind of quick fix would easily solve one of the Pokémon TCGP most annoying problems. For anyone who plays completely free and refuses to spend money on microtransactions for premium currency, the limited stamina you spend on the feature every day is quite frustrating, as you only have a 20% chance of pulling the keycard that you are trying to add to your collection. Even if the Wonder Pick trick worked, no one would blame you for trying it at least once.
The Wonder Pick Trick Doesn’t Really Work
Both rumors have not been proven to be true
Unfortunately for hopeful players, the Wonder Pick trick doesn’t work in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Confirmed by multiple tests, if you press the skip button during the shuffle animation during each Wonder Pick, the ending positions of all five cards will be completely randomized in the same way as they would be otherwise. You can simply select the card you are trying to pick, but this is just a matter of luck, as that card has the same 20% chance of landing in the location it was originally in.
There is also a second rumor about the Wonder Pick trick in Pokémon TCG Pocket where you can accurately identify the position of a card by screen-recording the shuffle before playing and pausing it, but that doesn’t work either. If you are eager to get some Pokémon TCG Pocket’s new promo cards in a Wonder Pick, you’ll just have to keep trying until you get lucky. Even if you don’t always pick the one you’re looking for, you could end up with some of the game’s most underrated cards that many players have overlooked.
Bundle points are the only way to guarantee card pickup
But you will need to keep saving
If you are desperate for a card on Pokémon TCG Pocket that you didn’t make it into a Wonder Pick, spending Pack Points is the only way to ensure achievement. If you urgently need the Misty Supporter card to complete a Water deck, for example, the PP Exchange menu is the only resource in the game right now where you can get it instantly, with no chance of failure. The caveat, however, is that the Pack Point price for each card is higher the rarer it is.
For example, the common rare one-diamond Bulbasaur costs just 35 Pack Points, while the aforementioned Misty costs 70 in its standard two-diamond edition. This price steadily rises into the thousands, including 1,250 Pack Points for the three-star rare ex Mewtwo, or 2,500 for the one-crown rare ex Pikachu, ex Charizard, or ex Mewtwo. Since the Wonder Pick trick doesn’t work on Pokémon TCG Pocketyou’ll need to spend a lot of time saving up Pack Points or hope you get lucky when opening boosters.
