How Ethan Defeated Jason Bateman's Villain
Only Ethan was able to do this
A lot happens in the end Continuewith several twists and revelations happening in quick succession. Although Ethan doesn't know what's in the bag for most of the film, he eventually discovers that it's a deadly nerve agent, with the Traveler's criminal organization wanting to release it on a plane. After the death of the Traveler's messenger, the Traveler must board the plane himself. Although the police are on your trail, Ethan realizes that the Traveler isn't boarding the plane everyone thinks he is. Knowing he will have to operate in secret, Ethan boards the plane and enters the cargo hold.
While on the plane, Ethan attempts to deactivate the nerve agent, relying on the knowledge he gained earlier in the film. The Traveler then gets an alert on his phone, prompting him to secretly go into the cargo hold to check things out. After discovering Ethan, the Traveler attempts to shoot him, alerting the pilots and causing them to return to LAX. As the plane lands, Ethan reveals that he actually took the nerve agent out of the bag, throwing it into the refrigerator with the Traveler and keeping the door closed while he kills the villain.
The Villains' Plan and Target Explained
What was Jason Bateman's Traveler doing?
The villains' plan in Continue is quite vague for most of the film, only becoming completely clear towards the end of the film. In the world of Continuea politician presented a bill that aims to protect democracies that are in danger. If the bill is approved, it will greatly benefit weapons manufacturers. However, it has no votes. Jason Bateman is a criminal who only works for profit, and an unknown organization that has links to these companies hires him to release a Russian nerve agent on a plane containing this politician.
Although this may seem counterintuitive, the Traveler eventually explains why they want to kill the politician despite supporting his project. By killing her with a Russian nerve agent, the criminals believe that the United States will believe this was an attack perpetrated by the Russians due to them being potentially targeted by the bill. This will presumably raise even more support for the bill, allowing it to pass and enriching gun manufacturers. Although it requires killing one of their own, they believe this is the best way to get the necessary votes.
Why Ethan becomes a police officer at the end of his career
After the carry-on luggage time jump
All over Continueit is established that Ethan Kopek wants to be a police officer instead of a TSA agent. However, after being kicked out of the police academy, Ethan gave up on that dream. The Importance of Ethan's Failed Polygraph Test
This sets the big theme of carry-on luggage
At one point ContinueEthan reveals to the Traveler why he was kicked out of the police academy. Ethan explains that it's because he lied on the polygraph test, causing him to fail. Ethan lied when asked if he had ever witnessed a crime he didn't report, which played a major role in the crime. Continuethemes. Ethan's decision to act and stop the Traveler's crimes allows him to redeem himself after his mysterious past incident, with the Traveler's interruption being what Ethan needs to finally become a police officer.
The true meaning of the end of the sequel
It has to do with Ethan changing
Continue leaves the audience with a lot to think about, but the film's main theme is the importance of action versus inaction. Throughout the film, Ethan is presented as a character who agrees to be in ecstasy. Ethan doesn't want to ask for a promotion, he doesn't want to work toward his goal of being a police officer, and he doesn't really want to improve his life in any meaningful way. Ethan's wife Nora is dismayed by this, highlighting how much Ethan has changed, reminding her how persistent he was when he first asked her out with him.
The dilemma created by the Traveler's plan challenges Ethan's sense of stagnation. Or Ethan can do nothing, take no risks and let everyone die, or he may try to do something bigger that puts his personal status quo at risk. Ethan having no desire to move on in his life is something many viewers can relate to, and while these viewers typically don't have a criminal conspiracy involving a deadly nerve agent to get them out of this situation, this story works as a Perfect way to fuel Ethan's character transformation.
Will there be a 2 carry-on bag?
Nothing has been announced yet
There was no word about a Transport 2 yet, but it is possible that this will happen in the future. Although director Jaume Collet-Serra has never directed a sequel before, he has been behind several films that should have had sequels, such as Jungle Cruise and Black Adam. So, if Continue is a hit for Netflix, it's possible that the streaming service wants to turn it into a franchise. A possible sequel could follow Ethan Kopek as a police officer, with him becoming involved in another criminal conspiracy similar to the one seen in Continue.
