As the entire Marvel Universe falls under Doctor Doomunder the villain's control, the villain is launching a devastating attack against the Fantastic Four. However, even as he unleashes the Sorcerer Supreme's full power against his rivals, Doom still has to admit that one team member not only has his respect, but also his love.
In recently released Solicited Information, Marvel revealed the cover art and issue summary for A World Under Perdition #2. 2024 Blood Hunt the event ended with Doctor Doom stealing the position of Sorcerer Supreme from Doctor Strange. In 2025, he will be ready to wield that power, launching his ultimate attack against the Fantastic Four – the only superhuman team he believes can stop him.

Before taking on the FF, Marvel's issue summary reveals The misfortune will Seek advice from Valeria Richards, daughter of Reed Richards' Mister Fantastic and Sue Storm's Invisible Woman. Marvel notes that Valeria is the only person on the planet that Doom respects and even loves, but that still may not be enough to save his family. Speaking on the subject, writer Ryan North says:
Things really kick off in ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM #2. Doom is consolidating his power, and of course the only thing that really stands between him and his ambitions is the Fantastic Four. So Doom simply solves this problem. The way he does this will resonate with FF for a long time! This particular issue is basically a surprise secret edition of the Fantastic Four – and anyone reading this book won't want to miss it.
Variant covers by RB Silva and Jerome Opeña show the Thing fighting an army of Doombots and Doom unleashing his magical power, while art by Ben Harvey shows Doom casting a spell on Ben Grimm's Thing.
It's more likely that Doom plans to depower the Thing than kill him, especially if Valeria has a say.
Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Doom is ready to put an end to the Fantastic Four
But his bond with Valeria Richards could save their lives
Doctor Doom has a long history with Reed and Sue's super-genius daughter, having given birth to her as a baby when the Invisible Woman's pregnancy threatened her life. In exchange for using her magic to protect Reed's family, Doom claimed the right to name Valeria, choosing the name of her long-lost love. Although Doctor Doom only wanted to anger Reed because of his inability to protect his family, the name ended up creating a surprising bond between Valeria and Doom – especially because With her incredible intellect and poorly developed morality, Valéria sees a lot of herself in the villain, calling him “Uncle Destiny”.
But although Doctor Doom may respect and even love Valeria, nothing will stop him from “saving the Earth” by subjecting her to his rule. It's likely that Valeria will be able to persuade Doom to spare his family's lives, but Doom will still feel the need to neutralize the heroes who have struck him down so many times in the past. It's possible that Doom intends to destroy the family by killing the Thing, who acts as the heart of the team. However, Ben Harvey's cover suggests another possibility…
Will Doctor Doom de-energize the thing?
It would be an ironic twist with important consequences
An easy way for Doctor Doom to neutralize the Fantastic Four is to steal their powers. With his regular magical abilities now enhanced beyond anyone else on Earth, it's something that Doom is more than capable of, and it would be a truly ironic twist for the Thing to regain his human form (something he wanted from the beginning) as a means of to stop him from opposing Doctor Doom.
Marvel promises that Doctor Doom's attack on Fantastic Four will have major consequences for the heroes, with consequences that will only be revealed when A World Under Perdition #2 hits comic book store shelves. Whatever happens, Doctor DoomValeria's love and respect for Valeria has just turned her into the most important hero in the Marvel Universe, as only she has the ear of the despotic ruler against whom not even the Avengers stand a chance.
A World Under Perdition #2 will arrive on March 3, 2025.
