Divided fiction has a chance to solve the bigger problem of two

The newest title from Hazelight Studios, the creators of It takes two and A way outwas revealed as Divided fiction at The Game Awards 2024. Like other Hazelight Studios games, Divided fiction will feature two protagonists. This game will not just have two main characters that a single player switches between, but two characters that are meant to be played cooperatively by two players.

Since this is the third time Hazelight Studios has made this type of co-op game, they should now be able to avoid the hassles of previous games. The biggest problem with these past games, especially in It takes twoand the constant bickering and bickering between the two main characters. While it makes sense for the game's plot, two parents who need to repair their relationship after being separated, the angry dialogue makes the gameplay experience tiring after a while.

Split Fiction contains two main characters

Each game is a unique co-op experience

As It takes two, Divided fiction will feature two protagonists. This mechanic is fantastic for gameplay in It takes two and A way out, as it features more unique puzzles for players to work on together. Howeverdifferent It takes two, Divided fiction will not be bogged down by established relationship problems from the previous game.

In both It takes two and A way outThe main characters have a long history that players learn throughout the game. These parents with a strained relationship are forced to resolve their issues and see each other's perspectives when they are magically transformed into dolls. This also means the characters have a lot of baggage to work through, which was especially annoying in It takes twowhere the two protagonists, Cody and May, fought the entire game until the end.

How Split Fiction Can Solve the Two-Protagonist Problem

A friendly relationship would be refreshing

Divided fiction will have a unique opportunity to give the two main characters, Zoe and Mio, a fresh start. From the trailer revealed at The Game Awards, it looks like Zoe and Mio will meet for the first time when they both become trapped in their stories. While there will probably be some animosity at first, as it seems like it's Mio's fault that her sci-fi story is clashing with Zoe's fantasy tale, this Infighting won't be necessary for the plot for long.

The best thing Divided fiction can do to overcome It takes two'The protagonist's problem is to ensure that the two protagonists become friends and resolve your differences much earlier in the game. They'll probably both have completely different perspectives, but being able to work together without the constant jabbing and complaining like Cody and May do would make Divided fiction a much more enjoyable experience that doesn't just repeat what Hazelight did before.
