Disney Dreamlight Valleythe latest expansion, THE Storybook Valleyis out. With it comes a whole new world to explore, new characters to unlockand new missions to dive into for hours. Merida is one of five new characters you meet and befriend in Vale storybook.
Merida is a character that many fans have been waiting for and now she is finally here. However, before Disney fans can meet the Scottish girl and make her a member of their community, they must unlock it and complete a series of missions.
How to unlock Merida
Go to Storybook Vale via Porto Stardust
To unlock Merida in Disney Dreamlight Valleyyou are going I need to visit Storybook Vale. Before you can access this new land and unlock the Brave protagonist, there are some criteria you must meet, including:

Have both expansion packs (A rift in time and Storybook Valley) installed

Complete Merlin’s quest, “A port of many worlds”

Go to Storybook Vale via Porto Stardust
Upon arrival Storybook Valley From Porto Stardust, go up the stairs directly ahead until you reach a platform where a red-haired woman waitsarrested by Inkies. The woman is none other than Merida. Interact with the Inkies to remove them, then talk to Merida. So it starts Storybook Valleystarting quest line.
How to start Merida’s friendship quests
Welcome to Storybook Vale
Once introductions are complete, Merida will ask you to follow her to the Library of Lore. Follow Merida up a staircase and into the library. Talk to Merida again. She will insist that you talk to the Lorekeeper. The only problem is that there is no one else but a giant book. Approach the giant book and talk to it.
You will learn this the giant book is the Lorekeeper of Storybook Valley. She will explain that you need to find a network, the latest tool in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Unfortunately, she can’t tell you how to find him as she becomes very sick and spits out excerpts – flying birds that are the Lorekeeper’s ultimate spell. Merida explains that you must catch all the excerpts and return them to the Lorekeeper. To do this, you will need Royal Net.
To find Royal Net, you must first upgrade your pickaxe. Merida explains that she has a potion in her bag that can improve her pickaxe. So, it’s time to find her bag. Find the bag and open it to remove the contents inside. You will now have the Pickaxe Potion, a Sour Fruit Pie and a Scottish Porridge.
Open your inventory, navigate to the Pickaxe Potion and use it to upgrade your pickaxe. Now it’s time to find the Royal Net. There’s a puzzle in the middle of the Library of Knowledge, along with two mechanics you can interact with to change the puzzle alignment to make the lower pieces fit together correctly.
Once they are aligned, the middle will appear and reveal Disney Dreamlight Valleyof the Real Network. Get Royal Net and learn how to capture snippets on the screen that appears. For PC users, it’s as simple as pressing the spacebar when near Snippets.
Next, equip the Real Network and use it to capture four Snippets in the main hall of the Library of Lore. After capturing them, return to Merida and discover that you will need to capture even more Snippets to restore the Lorekeeper. To do this, you will have to unlock two doors.
You can go to the door on the right or the left. I chose the one on the right first. Approach the steering wheel next to the door and use your Royal Net to unlock and open the door. Enter the room and go up the stairs, eliminating all the Inkies in your path.
Collect the fragments from inside this wing and then go to the other wing to do the same. Each wing will have three to collect. Once collected, return to Mérida.
So, talk to The Lorekeeper and unlock the “Once Upon a Time in the Storybook Vale“story to continue. Now, you will need to reorder the stories. Once the story is complete, The Lorekeeper will tell you about the story. Go and talk to Merida afterwards. She will let you explore and tell you to find her when you are done.
A new chapter
When you’re done exploring, leave the library and head to the Well, where Merida is waiting. Talk to her again. You will learn that you need gather some storybook magic to remove larger paints. Access your Dreamlight Storybook assignments to see how you can bring together some Storybook magic. Once you collect 500, you can unlock the area known as Bind.
The Bind is where you’ll find your Storybook Vale home in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Go downstairs and talk to Merida again. Now you will need collect five Snippets and remove 15 Inkies. Once completed, you will be back in Mérida.
Merida will then ask you talk to Scrooge and Goofy. Complete your missions by mining 10 gems and minerals and catching three fish. Return to Scrooge and Goofy, talk to them, and then interact with their respective signs to restore their stores where you can buy Scrooge’s clothes and furniture or Goofy’s crops.
Once you’ve finished this, you’ll talk to Merida again to start another quest to find a hidden room underneath a nearby bridge. Complete this mission by following Merida, opening the door under the bridge, looking for clues, and opening a secret door to a bookcase. This will restore the springs and finally give you access to place Merida’s house, fully unlocking it so you can continue your friendship quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
