Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Reckless Not two shows are often mentioned at the same time, but in 2019, the two Netflix shows crossed over in a very unexpected way. The Ellie Kemper-led sitcom and the Charlie Cox-led superhero drama shared very little in common other than their New York City setting. However, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt I found a way to openly acknowledge Reckless in a very clever and meta way before the sitcom came to a natural conclusion after four seasons in 2019 and hit its stride.
Inversely, Reckless Being cut after three seasons remains one of Netflix’s most heartbreaking cancellations to date. Fortunately, the Daredevil: Born Again The cast is almost a complete reunion from the original show, suggesting the upcoming Disney+ show will serve as a direct sequel to the Netflix effort. Interestingly, even after RecklessThe final episode of was released in October 2018, Marvel fans got one last glimpse into the world of the series’ title character through a very unexpected source.
Titus plays a doorman in a Daredevil episode “Unaired” on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, season 4, episode 7
Titus’ Daredevil character Pedro never appeared in the actual Marvel show
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘Kimmy fights a fire monster!’ is the part that serves as the sitcom’s creative Reckless crossing. After a long period of dismal performances from Titus, he lands the role of a doorman in the Netflix film. Reckless show. Granted, it’s a very small part with just one line, but it’s a huge improvement over his previous achievements. It is later revealed that the episode in which Titus starred has not yet aireddespite his claims that he had been recognized as a “celebrity“
“Good evening, Mr. Murdock. Nobody came to get that FedEx. Thanks, Pedro!” – Titus’ line as doorman (including the line that was intended for Charlie Cox’s character, which Titus also “accidentally” said.)
Titus never appeared in real life Reckless show, so there are a few different possibilities to explain his absence. The first is that Titus’ scene was cut. The problem with this theory is that “Kimmy fights a fire monster!” was released later Reckless had finished. Therefore, Titus would not have been required to play the role. Therefore, the most reasonable explanation is that, in the world of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidtproduction actually began in Reckless Season 4 before Netflix pulled the plug – contrary to reality.
John Bernthal plays a role as Punisher in the same Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt episode, Daredevil is nominated
Titus’ fake love interest Ilan has similar characteristics to Frank Castle
Fiction of Titus Reckless the cameo could easily be explained as Netflix making use of its intellectual property if it was the only reference to the show in “Kimmy Fights a Fire Monster!” However, the sitcom doubles down on its homage to the superhero series by casting The Punisherthe protagonist, John Bernthal. TThe actor debuted as Frank Castle in Reckless 2nd seasonand the character of Bernthal in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt shares a similar military history and general demeanor to his Marvel counterpart.
Kemper’s show hides the additional reference well at first. Although Bernthal’s character Ilan is initially introduced as a potential love interest for Titus, it quickly becomes apparent that there is much more beyond the surface to the man Bernthal is playing. That’s when Ilan is revealed to be a spy with a dark and bloody past that Bernthal is climbing Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt becomes another suitable connection for Reckless.
When cheerful and optimistic Kimmy Schmidt is rescued from a doomsday cult after spending years in hiding, she chooses not to return home to Indiana and instead decides to try and survive in New York City.
