Notice! Spoilers for no good deeds ahead!
JD Campell's house caught fire at the end of No good deedalthough it was never explicitly stated how this happened. Throughout the series, this character (played by Luke Wilson) was desperate not to lose his wife, who he considered one of the last good things in his life. However, JD had to learn the hard way that Margo (Linda Cardellini) wasn't who he thought she was. Still, it looks like he managed to get his revenge No good deed.
Netflix's dark comedy series follows Paul and Lydia Morgan (Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow) as they list their Los Angeles home for sale. As they do so, however, their deepest secrets threaten to explode, especially when several couples compete to buy the Morgan house. JD and Margo were among those who offered proposals, but lost their chance when their own dark secrets were revealed. It turns out that Margo was having an affair with the Morgans' teenage son, Jacob, and murdered the boy to keep the matter covered up. When JD found out, he may have taken the law into his own hands.
No good deeds imply JD set his house on fire to kill Margo
JD walked away looking very happy with himself
No good deed it never shows JD setting his house on fire. Instead, Margo is shown reminiscing about Jacob's murder in the bathtub as the house fills with smoke, and JD is seen walking away (looking quite pleased with himself). This certainly implies that this was an intentional act of arson on his part. Just before this scene, Margo demands that JD give her the house because he has no more money for her to take from him. Initially, JD said she could place it over the corpse, but it seems he changed his mind. Instead, he let her have a house burned down with the intention that his own corpse would be trapped inside.
What happens to JD and Margo without good deed
Burning down his house was JD's best decision
Although it appears JD had every intention of Margo dying at home, the end of No good deed reveals that she survived (albeit with extensive burn scars on his face). Her final scene in the Netflix series placed her in a bar, where she tried to flirt with a man who was Paul and Lydia's police officer nephew. He mentions that Margo, who he called by her real name, Luann, was going to prison, probably for Jacob's murder. Of course, she had already done so many illegal things that she certainly could have been arrested for anything.
It turns out that being free from Margo and committing a little arson was exactly what JD needed.
On the other hand, JD had a much happier ending in No good deed. Throughout the series, he tried to get work, but his reputation was damaged by a mental breakdown he had on set. Without considering, he got some time off and got a role in some kind of western project (think yellow stone). It turns out that being free from Margo and committing a little arson was exactly what JD needed. It is assumed that JD's finances were back on track and that he had purchased a new house. It's a win-win situation, especially since JD hated the other house in No good deed anyway.
