The classic continuity saw Destru constantly scheming to wrest control of Cobra away from the commander, thus The two coming to blows in the new continuity set up their eternal dynamic for the Energon Universe. The two came to an uneasy alliance during the Cobra Commander miniseries, when the Commander offered the stores of Energon he had recently acquired from the Dreadnox to power Destro’s new battle android troopers.
