Sanemi’s past reveals the immense burdens he took on
Sanemi’s devotion to protecting his family left him with painful scars that he could not heal
Sanemi was born as the eldest of seven children and decided to become responsible for the well-being of your family along with his younger brother, Genya. However, everything changed one night when her mother turned into a demon and killed her five siblings, leaving Genya and Sanemi as the only survivors. Not only was Sanemi marked by guilt for not being able to protect his family, but he was also blamed by Genya and labeled a murderer.
This tragic experience left Sanemi with a deep hatred of demons and a blatant disregard for your life. He internalized his pain and suffering, dedicating himself to killing demons at any cost. This fierce independence was born from the loss he experienced at the hands of demons, causing him to endure the loss of his family and alienate his only surviving brother. Sanemi was unwilling to allow others to bear his burdens, his anger against demons and the pain he felt when being accused of murder evolved into the harsh and abrasive personality of the Wind Hashira.
Sanemi has the most extreme development of all the Hashira
Sanemi’s apprehension eventually turns into deep respect for his master
Sanemi’s character growth is impressive. While hunting demons on his own, he encountered Masachika Kumeno, who brought Sanemi into the Demon Slayer Corps to receive proper training and became a brotherly figure to Sanemi. However, they would later encounter the previous Rank One of the Twelve Kizuki, Ubume, who would end up killing Masachika. Sanemi then managed to kill Ubume and was given the rank of Wind Hashira for doing so, however, he remained resentful of his friend’s death.
Sanemi would angrily confront Kagaya Ubuyashiki over his inability to fight, only to be faced with the fact that Ubuyashiki memorized the name and story of every Demon Slayer killed. This realization became a critical shift in Sanemi’s understanding of the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps and gave him a newfound respect for Ubuyashiki, who never expected to receive respect from Hashira or Sanemi. The revelation of Ubuyashiki’s humility gave Sanemi an appreciation for the Master and solid directionallowing him to dedicate himself to defending the lives of others as a Hashira.
Sanemi is willing to do anything if it’s for his family
No action is too drastic for Sanemi when it comes to her family
Sanemi’s fierce protectiveness became evident in his childhood, when he stopped his demon-turned-mother from killing her himself. Then, during Hashira’s training arc, Sanemi is shown to be cold and indifferent to her brother before trying to permanently blind Genya to protect him from continuing his path as a Demon Slayer. Although it is an extremely harsh method, Sanemi’s willingness to resort to violence reveals a deeper complexity to his character, demonstrating how his traumatic past has left him unable to communicate properly his concerns and uses harshness as a way to protect those he cares about.
This complexity is shown even further during the Infinity Castle arc, when Genya outright tells Sanemi that he’s the nicest person he knows, and Sanemi almost breaks down. However, he holds on long enough to engage in the final battle against Muzan and, after receiving life-threatening injuries, watches as Genya joins her other siblings in heaven and is approached by her mother, who is not allowed to go. where they. they are. Sanemi has a choice and ultimately chooses to keep her mother’s companydemonstrating your altruism and the softness of your heart, even if your ending is different.
Many may see Sanemi Shinazugawa as the toughest and nastiest Hashira, but his tough exterior only masks the painful past he has endured and hides his vulnerabilities. Yet deep down, his only desire is to protect those he loves and commit to his duty as Hashira to end the demons once and for all. The complexity of his character and outward attitude make Sanemi the most misunderstood Hashira of all time. Demon Slayer when in reality, he has one of the biggest hearts in the series.
