Although Lord Muzan, the Demon King, technically is Demon Slayer’s Main villain, in some ways, The upper rank two demon, Doma, is even more vicious and terrifying. Although Doma is below Muzan in the demon hierarchy, his character, lack of emotions, and motivations are much more insidious than Muzan’s. The demon may seem optimistic and charismatic on the surface, but his true intentions could not be further from innocence.
Doma even worked his way up the ranks of demons Leading his own cult called the Eternal Paradise Faith. Under the guise of a loving and genuinely helpful leader, Doma recruits new members and convinces them to depend on him and follow him blindly. Once they are caught in the clever demon’s trap, he eats them. Often, his victims have become so engaged with him by the point that they do not even protest or attempt to save themselves. This is how Doma claimed so many human lives, making him one of the most dangerous demons to live.
Doma has no greater purpose or goal than the other demons do
He only cares about his own desires, while most other demons fight for a specific greater goal
Muzan’s primary motivation for killing humans and continuing to grow powerful is to become immortal. Because of his severe illness in his youth and constant fear of dying young, He hopes to reach a point where his physical body will no longer be a hindrance or at risk. This goal allows Musan to remain focused and explain, but not excuse, why he is so persistent. Doma has no overarching goal that he is working towards or a greater purpose that drives him to kill and eat humans. The demon just kills thoughtlessly and coldly, showing no regard for others.

It is canon that Doma feels zero emotion. He is unable to feel sorrow, remorse or love for others. Doma’s own needs and wants are all he cares about, making him completely heartless. He was responsible for ending the lives of many famous people Demon Slayer Characters including Kanae Kocho, Shinobu Kocho and Kotoha Hashibra, Inosuke’s mother. His own hunger for human flesh is his driving motivator, and he doesn’t care whose life he has to take to satisfy his desire. He uses people who are desperate for shelter and community and tricks them into becoming cult members that he can use later.
Doma’s infectious cheerfulness and charisma attract victims with ease
He is the leader of Eternal Paradise Faith Cult, with a whole group of avid followers who worship him
Doma is particularly insidious, maybe even more so than Musan, because Doma’s persona is friendly. He is a remarkably effective cult leader because he is able to attract people with his upbeat demeanor. He excels at pretending to care deeply for his cult members, feigning interest in their lives and plots, and offering advice and a shoulder to cry on, only to kill and devour them when they are at their lowest and most vulnerable. Doma is one of the few demons that is not particularly scary at first glance because he is a master at portraying himself as harmless.
Since Doma always wears a bright smile and portrays a concerned, thoughtful demeanor, People often do not suspect that he is evil incarnate. Muzan, the Demon King, is mighty, but public perception of him is very different from the way people generally see Doma. Muzan is feared by humans and demons alike, causing some to even shake and tremble at the sound of his name. Doma jokes often, grumbles constantly, and is outwardly kind to everyone he meets, giving people no reason not to trust him. Once he has captured their hearts and earned their respect, then he can go in for the kill.
Over time, Doma could have grown even stronger than the Demon King
Muzan is the most powerful demon, but Doma’s charisma may have helped him reach that level eventually
If he had lived longer, Doma could have grown to even greater heights than the Demon King. People were afraid and ran away from Muzan, but generally they were not afraid of the apparently cheerful Duma, until it was too late. Doma began his time in the Twelve Kizuki of Demons as an Upper Rank Six and moved up the ranks to become an Upper Rank Two, Prove his ability to grow stronger and kill hundreds over time. Doma has most of the skills that Muzan does: power, intimidating blood demon arts, and a reputation among demons, but he also has charisma that Muzan lacks.

Doma may seem bubbly and nice, but he looks down on everyone, even his fellow ghosts. Amazing, er Shows no reverence even to the demons who are above him. In Upper Moon meetings, he irritated the other spirits, especially Akaza, because of his lack of respect. This is another piece of evidence that reveals his complete lack of regard for anyone other than himself, human or demon. Muzan feels similarly, he sees everyone else as inferior to him, but Doma is a little more skilled at convincing others that he is more compassionate and more genuine than he actually is.
Muzan is excellent at deception, but Doma definitely has him beat
Doma’s cult proves that he is a master at tricking people into believing that he is good to hide his evil intentions.
In order to be an effective demon, deceiving people is necessary to find new victims. Musan blends well into society, sometimes deluding people into believing that he is an average, normal person. however, Doma’s deception is on another level entirely. He doesn’t just deceive the occasional person like the other demons, he has a whole devoted cult of followers who bow to every head. Other demons, such as Kokushibo and Muzan, may be physically stronger than Doma, but with time, training, and additional power, Doma may eventually have surpassed even the Demon Slayer Villains with his unique, unmatched skills.
