Notice! Spoilers ahead for Tracker season 2, episode 4, “Noble Rot.”After Tracker Season 2, Episode 4, it’s time to officially ask Justin Hartley’s show not to waste its best character. CBS’ record-breaking procedural immediately made a splash when it debuted in early 2024. Hartley plays Colter Shaw, a rewarder who scours the country to find missing people. Although he is the series’ titular character and operates on the ground mostly alone, the series has a good cast around Hartley. Colter’s team is small, but all of its members are very good at what they do. They provide mostly remote support to the rewarder as he handles dangerous cases.
The nature of TrackerThe storytelling means he has a rotating cast every week. The first three episodes of Season 2 featured three different guest stars – Camille Pickett by Floriana Lima, Russell Shaw by Jensen Ackles and Billie Matalon by Sophia Parnasrespectively. They all played significant roles in Colter’s recent cases. In Tracker Season 2, Episode 4, ‘Noble Rot’, however, the series brings it back to its roots, with Hartley’s character working alone, although he receives help from the best character on the project. His team is a powerful reminder of how the CBS process is underutilizing an important asset.
Tracker Season 2 Episode 4 Highlights How Awesome Reenie Is
Reenie & Colter’s chemistry is still unparalleled
Fiona Rene’s Reenie was introduced as part of the Tracker Cast in Season 1 as Colter’s ally. As a lawyer, she typically handles the legal aspects of her operation, although she doesn’t appear to technically be part of it. Still, Colter depends on her, so when she asks him for help Tracker Season 2, Episode 4, he comes. Reenie has already made several appearances in the show’s sophomore season, but this is the first time she’s shared the screen with the Reward as they navigate the case of a missing woman in Napa Valley.

It becomes clear throughout the episode that Reenie and Colter have great chemistry. Much has been said about the duo’s potential for a romantic story and, although Tracker hinted that they had an affair in the past, both Hartley and Rene effectively eliminated any chance of that happening. That said, other than that, Reenie is a great character overall. She may not be a rewarding colleague like Billie, but she can certainly hold her own. She is smart and charming and thinks outside the box in complicated situations. These are some of the reasons why she is so fun to watch.
Tracker doesn’t use Reenie nearly enough
Reenie has a lot of storytelling potential in Tracker
As good as Reenie is, Tracker doesn’t use it enough. She appears regularly on the show, but most of her involvement is through remote work. Even the few times she has reunited with Colter and been with him, she remains a secondary character. Granted that Tracker’Hartley’s focal point is Hartley’s hero, but the show could benefit from combining them more often. For starters, the banter between them is incredible – maybe on the same level as Colter and Russell. Regardless of it being filled with flirtation, their dialogue is always witty.
Colter benefits from the people around him, and Reenie brings out his more playful side, potentially because she is feisty and sarcastic.
Second, be around Reenie actually makes Colter more interesting. By itself, Hartley’s character tends to be boring. He seems very serious and direct, which are good qualities for a TV hero, but he’s not that fun to watch. Colter benefits from the people around him, and Reenie brings out his more playful side, potentially because she is feisty and sarcastic. Finally, in itself, René’s character is fantastic. It will be great to see more of her personal narrative, especially when she opens her own law firm with Velma shortly after Teddi’s decision. Tracker exit.
How Tracker can better utilize Reenie in the future
Tracker doesn’t need major changes to give Reenie what she deserves
Don’t waste Reenie don’t force Tracker to review your storytelling approach. This issue may be fixed with some tweaks in the future. To begin with, give Reenie more things to do. It’s true that she usually works remotely at Colter, but it wouldn’t hurt the show to see her in the field with him more. She has no combat training, but is resourceful and intelligent. Sometimes she can solve a dilemma better and faster than Colter.
Another way to do this is by Tracker to explore Reenie’s legal storyline. This means diversifying the show’s narrative and dedicating some of its viewing time to what the law firm is doing, perhaps as a B plot for the case of the week. This way, the procedure can also ease the burden on Hartley to perform it, which is more important now that Tracker season 2 has more than 20 episodes.
