Alfred Pennyworth’s Green Lantern look is the perfect tribute to Hal Jordan’s classic costume

DC vs Vampires World War II #2 Alfred Pennyworth Wonder Woman Green Lantern Part 2

Despite the truce between vampires and humans, Wonder Woman, who served as Batgirl’s second-in-command, was driven by revenge for the death of her queen. This quest for revenge leads you to Talia al Ghul and Alfred Pennyworth, two of the last remaining members of Damian’s family and his closest confidants. Diana confronts them, and explains that she has a message for Damian – one that she intends to deliver to them with their deaths. She then seemingly kills Talia, strangling her with the Lasso of Truth, before turning her attention to Alfred. Crawling to a cache of weapons, Alfred is mocked by Diana for his feeble attempts to defend himself.

Just as Wonder Woman closes in, Alfred reaches for a weapon, revealing it to be a Green Lantern power ring. With a surge of power, he blasts Diana back. In the next panel, Alfred emerges wearing the signature Green Lantern Corps uniform. Fans of Hal Jordan will undoubtedly recognize elements of his iconic costume, although Alfred’s version has its own unique flair. His suit features a mask with sharper points and edges, green gloves instead of white, and a chest design that stops at his lower abs, rather than extending to the crotch like Hal’s.

The moment is undeniably badass, not only debuting Alfred’s epic new cloak and costume, but also showing the all-powerful and evil Wonder Woman sprawling on the ground – an unusual sight for one of the series’ most powerful vampires. In the final panel, readers get a glimpse into the connection between Alfred and the Ring when he speaks to it: – You have been calling me all this time. I wasn’t ready to listen… I am now.” The revelation confirms that the ring chose Alfred, which is the beginning of what promises to be a strong and dynamic pairing.

Green Lantern isn’t the first overpowered mantle the Wayne family butler has embraced

Elseworlds’ Alfred Pennyworth is the DCU’s biggest badass

What makes Batman’s butler take on the overpowered mantle of Green Lantern even cooler is that DC writers seem to unanimously agree on one thing –No matter the world or alternate universe, Alfred Pennyworth is the ultimate badass. Although Alfred has always been exceptionally formidable in mainstream continuity, the Other worlds series takes its badassery to new heights. This is most notably seen in Incorrect (Earth-49), Dark Knights of Steel (Earth-118), The stopped (Earth-55), and now DC vs Vampires (Earth-43).

in Incorrect, Alfred became a hot favorite for breaking Superman’s nose– An iconic moment in the character’s history and the main example that fans cite when discussing it “Bat-ler’s” Badassery. in dark knights of steel, Alfred’s reveal as the last surviving Green Martian after decades of loyal service was another standout moment, as was the final survivor. But perhaps his most legendary moment came The stoppedWhere Alfred donned the mantle of the Spectre, the literal embodiment of God’s wrath and one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe.

Alfred’s transformation into the Specter happened when Damian Wayne, one of the last surviving members of his family besides Cassandra Kane, was on the verge of death at the hands of the undead New God Highfather. At this point, Alfred is consumed by all the turmoil and pain he has endured throughout his life – the loss of Thomas and Martha Wayne, the near destruction of the entire Bath family, and the imminent death of his surrogate grandson. This overwhelming fury caught the attention of the Spirit of Vengeance, transforming Alfred into the Spectre. In its new form, Alfred drove his fist through the Highfather’s head, killing a god with one blow. One word: legendary.

Alfred is a survivor (and that’s why it was so out of character for DC to kill him off in main continuity)

Bring Alfred Pennyworth back 2025

If DC’s Other worlds Have proven one thing, it is that Alfred Pennyworth is the last survivor. The world may literally be ending, but the Butler not only lives on – he thrives. Beating the odds and being a badass became an intrinsic part of Alfred’s character. So, when Tom King killed him off in the City of railways storyline, it felt wildly offensive and out of character for Alfred to die. While it’s tragic that Alfred is no longer part of the main continuity, Rosenberg has offered fans some solace by sending the butler on his next big adventure – becoming the new DC. Green Lantern.
