WARNING: Contains potential spoilers for SUPERMAN #19!Superman has one of the most diverse and extensive arsenals of powers in the DC Universe, making it difficult to choose which one is the best. However, the newly debuted Superwoman has officially settled the debate over the best Kryptonian power by declaring her absolute favorite – and most fans will no doubt agree with her.
Superman #19, by Joshua Williamson, Dan Mora and Alejandro Sánchez, is a monumental issue for the Man of Steel, featuring Lois Lane suiting up as the new Superwoman, wielding powers that rival Clark’s. Although the comic does not explicitly explain how Lois acquired her abilities, fans can assume that her new metahuman status results from the events of Absolute power.
When DC’s metahumans’ stolen powers were restored, many regained their typical abilities, while others, like Barry Allen’s Flash, were left powerless. In contrast, Normally powerless characters, like Lois presumably, have emerged with an impressive array of new powers.
Superwoman declares FLY as the best Kryptonian superpower
“…I don’t think anything could have trained me to fly.” – Lois Lane in Superman #19
After a successful takedown of the villain, Superwoman and Superman are shown flying together over Metropolis when Clark asks his wife how she is feeling. Lois responds enthusiastically “Excellent!” and shares her gratitude for all the training her father, General Lane, put her through as a child, noting how it was all worth it now that she can apply her training to her powers. However, She admits that there is one skill that nothing could have prepared her for: flying. Lois explains how being able to fly alone is an incomparable feeling, expressing her admiration by saying: “I don’t know how you slowed down and let your feet touch the ground.”
As Lois mentions her other newfound powers, like her super senses,he talks about flying with distinct awe and love, making it clear that this is his favorite ability in his new set of powers. This power also receives significant attention throughout the issue, as Lois and Clark are shown flying together in several scenes, even participating in a flying race. Lois’s admiration for flying, combined with the narrative emphasis on this ability, suggests that Superwoman – and perhaps even Joshua Williamson – believes that flight is the ultimate Kryptonian power.
What are Lois Lane’s superpowers?
Does Lois Lane have all the same powers as Superman?
While the comic undeniably emphasizes flight, it also touches on Lois’ other powers, confirming that she possesses invulnerability, super senses, super strength, super speed, heat vision, and icy breath. It appears that Lois received all of Superman’s powers. However, as the narrative progresses, it will be interesting to see if she develops abilities beyond Clark’s and how they compare to his. In one notable scene, Mercy Graves warns Lois not to use her heat vision because it can burn too much solar energy in her cells. Since this is not a concern for Supermansuggests that Superwoman the powers may still be developing or not as strong as the husband’s.
