DC is paying for 37 years of Suicide Squad history with this delicious twist

Warning: Spoilers for Absolute Power #4!For almost four decades, Amanda Waller spent Suicide Squad with an iron fist, mercilessly executing countless ne’er-do-wells under his command with his signature brain bombs. How Absolute power However, Waller ends up getting a taste of his own medicine in a deliciously ironic way – albeit with ominous consequences for one of DC’s brightest new heroes.

Absolute power #4 from Mark Waid, Dan Mora, Alejandro Sanchez and Ariana Maher brings the DC Absolute Power crossover to a dramatic conclusion with the destruction of Task Force VII and the capture of Amanda Waller. Waking up imprisoned in her own Belle Reve prison, Waller faces off against the most unlikely of heroes: the Dreamer.

Dreamer not only reveals that she used her powers to block Waller’s inside knowledge of the superhero community, but also hints that she left a psychic bomb in Waller’s mind if Waller overtrains too much, finally giving her a taste of the cure from her own Suicide Squad.

For decades, Suicide Squad has been notorious for its deadly and fail-safe method: an explosive device implanted in the head of each squad member that will explode if they disobey orders.. Waller’s lethal countermeasures first appeared in the form of explosive bracelets in Legends #3, courtesy of iconic Suicide Squad writer John Ostrander. Ostrander continued to write stories for Suicide Squad over the next few decades and was still in the title in 2007. Suicide Squad: Raise the Flag #1, which transformed the explosive bracelets and collars into the explosive implants known to modern readers today.

The beautiful irony of Waller receiving the same punishment as countless others is that it comes from the hands of a Dreamer. Of all the heroes Waller forced in the run-up Absolute powerWaller may have been the most abusive to Dreamer, forcing her to join the Suicide Squad in Suicide Squad: The Dream Team Nicole Maines and Eddie Barrows, holding Nya Nal’s parents hostage and using her as a weapon against the heroes. Waller’s “recruitment” of Dreamer ended with Nya’s physical death. Absolute power #2, although he eventually regains his body thanks to his connection with Superman Jon Kent.

While the Dreamer is brought back to life by Jon Kent’s dreams, Nya’s time under Waller’s control seems to have broken something in her.. Dreamer seems to take pleasure in torturing Waller, hiding Waller’s memories from her in the latest issue of the magazine. Absolute powerand she attributes this new brutal use of her powers to Waller’s influence. Since her recent debut, Dreamer has been one of DC’s most optimistic new heroes, but for now Absolute power #4, she shows no remorse for secretly using her powers to torture those who wronged her.

Conclusion Absolute power shook the Suicide Squad status quo to its core. This opens up many possibilities: Can Waller regain control? Will Dreamer escape the legacy of the Suicide Squad, or will her new abilities become a factor for future versions of the Squad? All fans know for now is that Amanda Waller finally received the same favor she showed Suicide Squad over the past 37 years – not at all.
