Absolute Batman #1 he was wildly successful, being reprinted three times so far. Given Absolute BatmanWith the immense success of his debut, fan interest isn’t likely to fade anytime soon. If fans continue to buy Absolute Batman is the only barrier to meeting the Boy Wonder of this incredibly dark reality, so it’s essentially guaranteed that Absolute Robin is on the way.

Comic book art: Absolute Universe versions of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman glow menacingly.

The Absolute Universe is a new reality built on the foundation of Darkseid’s evil. In this world, new versions of iconic heroes are stripped of their traditional allies and advantages, transformed into defenders of the status quo in rebels who fight against the very essence of their reality. In this continuity, Bruce Wayne is a young engineer who has never left Gotham, while Joker is a trained assassin and billionaire, and Alfred Pennyworth is a mercenary who is after the Dark Knight instead of helping him. The moral structure of the Absolute Universe itself is differentchallenging these new versions of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman like never before.

Bringing a version of Robin into such a dark world is a very different proposition from the mainstream, billionaire Bruce Wayne is still recruiting other childish sidekick, especially for a Bruce who is only 24 years old. This version of Bruce Wayne is very different from the man fans know in the original DC reality. Not only is Bruce just 24 years old, but he also has many more connections in Gotham, with many of his traditional villains now being his close friends. His mother is also alive, blurring the lines between Bruce Wayne’s murdered family and the connections he makes with other vigilantes like Batman.

DC has established a pattern for Batman to recruit troubled children and help them cope with tragedy in a way that allows them to process their anger and sadness. However, Absolute Batman has no experience with this process and is much younger, suggesting his relationship with any Robin would be more brotherly than father/son. Interestingly, this is how DC originally described his relationship with the first Robin Dick Grayson, although it has since been retconned as a paternal bond.

Absolute Robin already has the ‘perfect’ design

A fan joke turns Robin into an absolute parody of Batman’s muscles

In a hilarious response to Snyder’s post, a fan shared an image of Robin from the cartoon Teen Titans Go!showing Wonder Boy with a muscular torso. Fans have been joking online for weeks about how incredibly muscular Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne is, and the image suggests that Absolute Robin would be even more imposing. Snyder joined in on the joke, responding “Bigger” to the proposed project.

Despite this ‘concept art’, it’s unclear exactly what an Absolute version of Robin would look like. to be. It’s possible this is just a new version of Dick Grayson, but it could also be an entirely new character. The possibilities are literally endless. In a universe ruled by evil, Robin is likely to have a suitably intense origin, but there’s no guarantee he’ll consider Batman an ally. There is also the possibility He might not actually be Batman’s sidekick – when underrated heroes like Martian Manhunter are getting their own titles, that’s certainly possible for the Boy Wonder.

According to Scott Snyder, Absolute Batman fans will meet those of this world robin if they stick with the series long enough, which means it’s only a matter of time before a new Boy Wonder debuts in this unique reality shaped by Darkseid’s evil.

Absolute Batman #1 is available from DC Comics now.
