Jenny Sparks is one of DC’s most exciting new series, with a revamp of the original leader of the Authority. The new series offers an interesting perspective on one of the best heroes of the Wildstorm universe. Like the “spirit of the 20th century”, Jenny is well past her prime, but so far, the book The creative team used this to note how the last century still felt well into the 21st. Captain Atom is also an interesting choice of antagonist, as the super-powered nuclear hero serves as a fitting metaphor for multiple modern problems.

Seeing Jenny Sparks interact with the classic DC heroes has led to many memorable scenes in the series so far, not least because her teammates in the Authority were initially meant to be analogues for the Justice League.
