The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon showrunner David Zabel suggested possible ideas for the season 4 location, indicating whether Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) would stay in Spain. Daryl Dixon season two is wrapping up the pair's adventure in France, with the duo currently trying to get Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) back to America. Season 3 has already been confirmed, with the leading duo heading to Spain for another adventure, apparently as they continue trying to get back to America.
Talking to ColliderZabel explained how conversations about the place of Daryl Dixon season 4 is underwayand that it is possible that the story will continue in Spain. However, there is no definitive decision yet, with the showrunner teasing that the series could move to a new location. He said the current focus is on filming the six episodes of Season 3 in Spain, before moving on to the series' next destination. Check out what Zabel said below:
These are things we are talking about and thinking about. These are definitely considerations and there are several versions of this. We could do more in Spain or we could potentially move elsewhere. I love the way we reinvent the show when we move from place to place. I think it's a great way to keep everything fresh and give new stimulation to these characters who have seen and done so much. There are all kinds of conversations about what season four would be like and what other places the series could go. But we also love being in Spain and there is a lot of history to tell in Spain. At the moment we are only doing six in Spain.
What David Zabel's Season 4 Location Tease Means for Daryl Dixon in Season 4
Norman Reedus Seemingly Confirmed Season 4 Earlier This Year
In June 2024, Reedus apparently confirmed Daryl Dixon season 4, saying he believed some of it could be filmed in Spain during the third season. However, Zabel's statement indicates that this may not be the case, with the current focus being Daryl Dixon Season 3 having a complete story in Spain. While it's unclear what the story will consist of, many new characters will appear, with some stars including Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Alexandra Masangkay, Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbués, and Stephen Merchant. This indicates a blank slate for the story as Daryl and Carol's journey home continues.
If Season 4 is announced, it looks like the show could change locations, with Zabel potentially already having a full story mapped out for Daryl Dixoncharacters in Spain. If the show's new storyline is completed over the course of six episodes, then It would make sense for a possible Season 4 to bring the duo elsewhere instead of stretching the story. However, with the pair already tipped to make a pit stop before Spain, this could offer insight into what their future plans could be.
Our Take on Where Daryl Dixon Season 4 Could Be Located
The show could become a world tour for Daryl and Carol
Since Zabel apparently already has the season 3 plot figured out, it seems Daryl Dixon season 4 could potentially reveal a new location for the pair to travel to. Reedus has ideas for season 4 that include Costa Rica and Japan, something that if considered could result in a world tour for Daryl and Carol. While the pair are trying to return home, their maturing into new adventures means the show could become almost an anthology series, with the pair always heading to a new country.
Daryl Dixon Season 2, Episode 6, 'Au Revoir les Enfants', airs on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, November 3.
