Randall Becomes The Man In Yellow – Popular Theory Explained
A popular fan theory claims that Randall eventually transforms into the supernatural figure
A growing fan theory since OfThe end of season 3 has suggested that Randall would eventually transform into the Man in Yellow (through Reddit). On the one hand, there is a striking physical similarity between the two Of characters, with their haircuts and general appearance quickly drawing comparisons from viewers. Even before the Man in Yellow was officially introduced, the similarities between the characters were noticed after Tabitha saw Miranda's paintings. While this was largely based on the physical similarities between the two, there are some additional details about Randall's character that make this twist a possibility.
Of course, many years would pass before he could become the Man in Yellow, as the mysterious figure is much older than Randall, who is apparently in his late 20s. The idea that the Man in Yellow could still appear in the same timeline as Randall doesn't create a plot hole, however, as Of Season 3 revealed that time travel exists within Fromville – and not everyone operates on a linear passage of time. If Randall is the Man in Yellow, then he could be returning to the present to warn the residents and stop them from breaking the town's cursed cycle.
According to fan theory, a major source of evidence that Randall could become the Man in Yellow is that He is facing supernatural attacks unique to the city. Something inexplicable is happening as Randall continues to hear the cicadas, and it may be the town's way of bending him to its will and making him the place's supernatural protector. Julie also heard the cicadas and screams before she became a “history walker”, so Randall could also be revealed as a story walker who eventually turns against the residents as the menacing Man in Yellow.

Not to mention that Randall is already extremely isolated from others and his abrasive nature makes it difficult to integrate into the community. The city may be working to gradually separate him further from the other residents and use his anger to turn him into something. even more powerful than OfThey are nocturnal monsters. Additionally, the monsters spared Randall when Boyd traded his life for the ambulance keys, which could be interpreted as part of the city's plan to make him the Man in Yellow. Of course, there are some problems with this fan theory that make it less likely.
Randall's scar creates a problem with the yellow man theory
The man in yellow doesn't have that scar
A major rebuttal to this theory is the fact that Randall now has a large scar on his face after being attacked by Ofthey are monsters. The scar is clearly visible on his face and is not something that would become undetectable after decades. However, The Man in Yellow doesn't have that scar on his facewhich is a big indication that they are not the same person.
Of has been officially renewed for season 4 by MGM+.
This could be explained by Randall eventually using some sort of magic or supernatural power to make him disappear, but that seems unlikely. If the show wanted to introduce a twist in which Randall becomes the Man in Yellow, it would still need to thread these important physical similarities to link them across timelines. Without this scar, it's harder to believe this Of is trying to tell the audience that the two characters are connected.
Randall becoming the Man in Yellow would take the new immortality twists too far
Don't Need Another Multiple Timeline Identity Twist
With all the mysteries still surrounding this reveal, it's fun to theorize about who the Man in Yellow is and whether he could be linked to an existing character. However, certain theories that actually come true could reduce the impact of Ofthe other twists and the weight they carry still keep the characters and this unfamiliar place grounded in reality. Of already revealed that Jade and Tabitha are reincarnations of Christopher and Miranda, so Making Randall the Man in Yellow would undermine this twist by overdoing the reincarnation plot.
If each character in Of has some kind of immortality or future/past identity as a different character, so it all becomes very artificial and the power of such revelations becomes insignificant.
If Randall, Jade, and Tabitha have multiple identities in Fromville across multiple timelines, then where does it stop? Could Boyd also have been reincarnated from another former resident? There are also theories that Fatima will later become the Kimono Woman. If each character in Of has some kind of immortality or future/past identity as a different character, so it all becomes very artificial and the power of such revelations becomes insignificant. Instead of making Randall the Man in Yellow, Of should make the latter his own distinct villainous entity.
