Daredevil is pure nightmare fuel in concept art that challenges Marvel to get way darker

Of all Marvel’s heroes, Daredevil is typically one of the darkest they have to offer. Daredevil isn’t exactly as upbeat as Spider-Man or awe-inspiring as The Avengers, and he has tons of different dark designs to reflect the era. Marvel is never really dark enough though, and one talented artist just revealed just how terrifying Daredevil’s design can be.

This amazing new redesign comes from the talented artist Tom Hoskisson (Tomhoskisent). Hoskisson has demonstrated an incredible flair for redesigns, recreating some of Batman and Spider-Man’s villains in the past. But this new Daredevil design is unlike anything fans have seen before. The art takes the “devil” part of Daredevil’s moniker to new heights, turning him into an almost hobgoblin-like creature.

The new design is a perfect blend of Daredevil’s iconic red and yellow suits, merging them into a single look. Not only that, but Daredevil gains real horns, pointy ears, and leaking blood from his face and eyes. It’s a truly disturbing look that would terrify any criminal who decides to enter Hell’s Kitchen. As far as Daredevil looks go, it’s one of the best, and it is Significantly Better and more intimidating than the past designs that Marvel tried to give Daredevil, which more often than not ended up looking goofy instead of threatening.

All of Daredevil’s dark designs didn’t work out

They look more goofy than threatening

Daredevil possessed by a symbiote during The King in Black.

There have been several times that Marvel has tried to show an evil Daredevil design. One of those attempts was when Daredevil was taken over by the King in Black during the massive crossover event. This results in Daredevil gaining some goofy horns, matching “armor” and a ridiculous smile. It wasn’t that scary, and it didn’t last that long, because the Dadevil quickly lost the symbiote that took him over. With that, he also lost the stupid design, and it has not been seen since, but it is far from the worst design that a bad daredevil had.

Another example of Daredevil becoming a monster was during the time he wielded the hand. Daredevil tried to take over the ancient ninja cult as a way of controlling it and to prevent the Kingpin from gaining control of it. Unfortunately for Daredevil, the Hand proved to be more difficult to control than he expected. The cult actually Wanted Daredevil to be their leader, so they could corrupt him. This resulted in one of the goofiest designs Daredevil has ever had, made worse by the fact that Marvel expected fans to take it seriously, despite the fact that Daredevil had ridiculous goat horns.

Goat-devil was an absolutely ridiculous form

This was Daredevil’s worst look

Challenge the beast

After Daredevil took over, he slowly began to be corrupted by the cult. This results in Daredevil being possessed by the beast, the dark god of the hand. This ended with Daredevil slowly becoming darker and darker in his actions, and his costume changed to match. Instead of the iconic red or even yellow, he became dark blue, and slowly his costume morphed even more. Finally, transform him to the point that he has big goat-like horns and claws. While this definitely carried the “demonic” look that Marvel was going for, it was still just over-the-top silly and wasn’t intimidating in the least.

This is one of the places where Hoskisson’s art excels. Daredevil still Looks Like Daredevil, but he’s also unmistakably a monster. Something that is not human. Hoskisson’s Daredevil design looks like skin, not a suit. With no visible seams on it. It’s a fantastic design and it brings to life just how horrifying Daredevil could be if Marvel were to go that far. It honestly wouldn’t look out of place if this Daredevil design was one of the goblins that Spider-Man often fights.

Daredevil’s design can be much darker

Matt Murdock may truly be a devil

Daredevil’s design has changed tons of time over the years. He had yellow, red, and even an armored black look. But the darker designs have always failed to capture the attention of readers. No one cosplays Goat-Devil at conventions, and they don’t really cosplay Daredevil’s Black Knight form. There’s a reason for this, mostly because they just look ridiculous, but there’s no doubt that someone could cosplay the new Daredevil and it would probably look stunning. This is a fantastic piece of work that Tom Hoskison has created, and it shows that there is a lot of potential for it Daredevil S Designs that Marvel has yet to explore.
