As if being at the top of the Oricon music charts wasn’t enough, Dan-DanThe opening theme is going viral once again thanks to an impressive fan-made live action music video.
A YouTube channel called TheAnimeMen recently posted a video clip of Dan-Danopening theme, “Otonoke” by Creepy Nuts, which won more than 11 million views in the two weeks since its release. Instead of a scene-by-scene replay of the opening theme, the music video masterfully brings the series’ characters to life in live-action, including Turbo Granny and the Serpo Aliens to recreate some of the most iconic scenes from the series premiere. .

The video begins with Okarun and Ayase entering a sinister house together, where they encounter Turbo Granny, who has been brought to life with a mix of prosthetics and visual effects.
Hilariously, Turbo Granny is seen swaying to the beat of the song while Ayase and Okarun hug each other in fear. While Turbo Granny is possessing Okarun, the Serpo Aliens finally enter and begin chasing Ayase, eventually capturing her to go to the beginning of the controversial spaceship scene in episode #1 of Dan-Dan.
However, Ayase’s scream transports her outside, where she meets Okarun, Seiko, Aira, and Jiji. Ayase and Okarun then dance together surrounded by several famous dead anime characters, while Turbo Granny continues singing the song on stage along with the Serpo Aliens. Before long, the video cuts back to the spaceship where Okarun and Ayase are now surrounded by various horror fiction characters. It’s safe to say the sequel is as weird and wacky as it gets, which is unintentionally on the brand to Dan-Dan.

Given the abundance of the supernatural in the series and how much the series relies on its distinctive visuals, translating Dan-Dan in live action it seems like a pretty challenging task.
