Warning: Spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima, episode #10Dragon Ball Daima has just introduced a character whose power absolutely surpasses that of any existing figure in the franchise's lore, and that includes Dragon Ball SuperThe Great Zeno. This new figure doesn't appear to exist yet, but it raises some serious questions about Grand Zeno.
Dragon ballOf course, it has often been debated who is the most powerful figure. Various divine beings have been revealed in the past, starting with Kami in Dragon ballfor Supreme Kai in Dragon Ball ZBeerus in Battle of the Godsand finally Grand Zeno, the supreme god above all, in Dragon Ball Super. With the power to erase entire universes with the touch of a button, it seemed almost unimaginable that a character could emerge who was stronger than Grand Zeno, and yet Daima managed to do just that with his new character, Rymus.
Dragon Ball's Newest Most Powerful Being Explained
Who is Rymus, Creator of the Universes?
Episode #10 of Dragon Ball Daima I saw the Supreme Kai telling the origins of Dragon ball multiverse in a surprising way. According to the Supreme Kai, the Demon Realm existed long before the multiverse, and the multiverse was only created when an absurdly powerful Majin, Rymus, was invited to create additional worlds. During the early days of the multiverse, travel between the Demon Realm and the various universes occurred freely, allowing races such as the Glind (the Supreme Kai's race) and the Namekians to travel to other universes.
Little has been revealed about Rymus, other than the fact that he was an absurdly powerful figure within the Demon Realm, and he dresses very similarly to SuperThe Great Zeno. Creating universes out of nothing certainly requires an extraordinary amount of power, and divine power at that. Dragon ball always translates into incredible strength. It's unclear what happened to Rymus, but Supreme Kai speaks of him as if he's still around, acting as the ultimate authority in all universes.
What does Rymus' existence mean for Grand Zeno?
How Grand Zeno Influences Daima's New Origin Story
It may seem that Rymus' existence represents a matter of continuity for Daima with Superbut that doesn't have to be the case. While Dragon Ball SuperAlthough Great Zeno was considered the god above all others, it is possible that Zeno was appointed to rule the multiverse in the same way that the Kais were chosen to watch over individual universes. It may also be that Zeno was Rymus's successor, or that Zeno always existedand was the god of the Demon Realm before the creation of the other universes, at which time he also assumed rule over all these worlds.
Hopefully, Daima will reveal more about Rymus and the origins of the multiverse, as well as how Grand Zeno factors into the equation. Dragon Ball Daima certainly wasn't afraid to make radical changes Dragon ball tradition, but also has the responsibility to combine the new tradition with the old.
