Dafne Keen needs to return as Laura in the MCU after her comments in the Deadpool and Wolverine resource, Assembled: The Making of Deadpool & Wolverine. Dafne Keen’s Laura is one of Dafne Keen’s most recent cameos. Deadpool and Wolverinewith Channing Tatum’s Gambit being one of the newest additions to the MCU. However, its debut in 2017 Logan – one of the most critically acclaimed comic book films of all time – had a lasting impact on audiences and Dafne Keen herself, to the point that her participation still felt impactful.
Dafne Keen plays Wolverine’s biological daughter in Logancreated by Alkali-Transigen from samples of Logan’s DNA. The two develop a deep bond throughout the film as Logan tries to transport her to safety across the Canadian border. Laura is initially portrayed as extremely violent, more prone to Wolverine’s furious rage than Wolverine himself in his cinematic appearances. However, we were terribly deprived of further character development after Fox’s X-Men franchise fizzled – but now the MCU looks ready to bring her back to the fore.
Dafne Keen is deeply attached to Laura
Deadpool and Wolverine arrived on Disney+ last week along with its behind-the-scenes featurette, which revealed how the film was made through on-set snippets and interviews with stars and filmmakers. These interviews revealed things like Channing Tatum’s surprise at seeing Gambit’s comical costume and why the Scarlet Witch effigy was featured in the resistance hideout. Dafne Keen, now 19, opened up about reprising her role as Laura, sharing this portraying the character at age 12 Logan meant she held a special place in his heart:
“Because I played her so young, she is embedded in me.”
This is definitely a positive sign for Laura’s return in future MCU installments. Most of the MCU’s most beloved characters are portrayed by actors who feel an affinity for them, with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool being a prime example. Keen’s comments make it difficult to argue that she shouldn’t be given more of a chance to develop the charactergiven Deadpool and Wolverine it was such a small – yet impactful – window to show Laura’s growth. Fortunately, it seems Deadpool and Wolverine configure this return.
Deadpool and Wolverine’s ending already created the perfect excuse to bring Dafne Keen’s Laura back
Laura now lives on Earth-10005
After saving the multiverse from Cassandra Nova and her command from the Time Ripper, Deadpool calls in a favor from B-15 to extract the surviving members of the Void resistance. This resulted in Laurua joining Deadpool and Wolverine in the Deadpool universeEarth-10005, seen sitting around a table with Deadpool and his friends in the final scenes. It’s virtually certain that Deadpool and Wolverine will return to the MCU, likely alongside several other characters in Avengers: Secret Wars.
This will also be where Keen’s Laura will likely make another appearance. Given that the film will no doubt be packed with cameos, it’s possible that Laura’s role will be small. There is also a small chance that She could reprise the role in one of the as-yet-unannounced projects set between the releases of Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Wars. Regardless of where this takes place, I think Marvel would be wise to bring Laura back as a mainstay in the MCU.

Although Deadpool’s claim that Disney will make Hugh Jackman play Wolverine”until he was 90“It’s unlikely, it’s hard for me to imagine another actor playing the character. Dafne Keen is the right age to carry the torch and be a more unconventional representative of mutantkindwhile also embodying the morally gray personas that typify some of the MCU’s most compelling characters. She’s also excellent in the role, having twice proven herself to be a valuable asset to the Marvel film franchise.
She also entered the MCU at an opportune time. Several recent episodes have set up the Young Avengers as the MCU’s next generation of superheroes to replace their adult counterparts. Although comic book precedent does not directly tie her to the Young Avengers when they form, her reappearance in Deadpool and Wolverine arrived at a notable time when the MCU’s youngest heroes began to band together with Kamala Khan at the helm.
