Includes SPOILERS for The Stormlight Archive through Wind and Truth, Mistborn eras 1 and 2, and other standalone Cosmere novels.
Brandon Sanderson's schedule for The Stormlight Archive can be very complicated, especially when considering other Cosmere books. The Cosmere fantasy universe consists of multiple independent series and novels beginning with Sanderson's first published book Elantris. Navigating the author's complex, intertwining narrative can be an immense challenge, especially since the chronology of the wider universe remains quite vague.
The Stormlight Archive Books provide information about when events are happening, but it helps to see everything organized in a timeline format. Especially after Wind and Truth In conclusion, time in Roshar is more important than ever. THE conflict between Dalinar and Odium results in Roshar being placed in a time bubble, where events synchronize with the Born from the mists world in an interesting way. The final chapters of Shallan and Hoid use information from the Born from the mists books
The events of Stormlight Archive last approximately two years
The champions competition ends a two-year period
The novels of The Stormlight Archive occur between the years in the world 1173 and 1175with a two-year gap between Kaladin joining Bridge Four and the champion match between Dalinar and Odium. While the five books may seem like they cover a longer period of time, it's important to note that the first two books only take a few months and Wind and Truth it covers only the last ten days of those two years. The biggest jump in time in a year happens between Oath and Rhythm of War.
The Way of KingsThe climax, the Battle of the Tower, takes place approximately three-quarters of the way through the year 1173, and then Urithiru is discovered before the end of the year. The mission to Kholinar and the subsequent Battle of Thaylen Field took place in early 1174, and the evacuation of Hearthstone occurred about a year later. After that, only a few months pass before the end of Wind and Truth. This information was compiled by readers based on Sanderson's blog posts and words and information from the books and can be seen in more detail at 17th Fragment.
The Historical Events of the Stormlight Archive Explained
Humans arrived on Roshar thousands of years before the path of kings
There are several events in Roshar's story that are vital to understanding the world as shown in The Stormlight Archive. The first humans to arrive on Roshar came from the destroyed planet Ashyn. This included the Heralds, who arrived on Shinovar and became the planet's champions of Honor. Shortly afterwards, the cycle of Desolations began, and the arms race between Honor and Odium resulted in the creation of the Undone and the Radiant, building up to the eventual Recreation Day, some 2,000 years before the events of The Stormlight Archivewhere the Radiants abandoned their oaths.

Gavilar and Dalinar conquered Alethkar about 30 years before the events of The Stormlight Archiveand Gavilar's murder at the hands of Szeth happened five years earlier The Way of Kings it started. Kaladin and Shallan's backstories also take place in the decades leading up to The Way of Kings.
The Wind and Truth Weather Bubble Explained
The formation of Retribution creates a temporal bubble around Roshar
In Wind and Truth In the end, the events of Dalinar and Odium's confrontation cause Roshar to be placed in a bubble, altering the rhythm of time in relation to other planets in the Cosmere. Thaidakar calls it one “bubble of slowness across the planet” and explains that combining two fragments into one has “did something for the Spiritual Realm“ near Roshar. This puts Shallan, who is trapped in Shadesmar, essentially in a reverse situation.Interstellar situation.
The Stormlight Archive arc 2 is supposed to start after a ten-year time jump, so the series can continue when the bubble ends
As Thaidakar says, If Shallan were to travel off-world, she could spend decades of her life while only a brief period of time would be spent on Roshar.causing her to age much more than Adolin and anyone else she cares about. Thaidakar explains that it will take around 70-80 years for the dilation to end, which will only seem like a decade in Roshar's time. It is important to highlight that The Stormlight Archive arc 2 is supposed to start after a ten-year time jump, so the series can continue when the bubble ends, while several decades have progressed everywhere else in the Cosmere.

When The Stormlight Archive Takes Place Compared To Mistborn Eras 1 & 2
The Stormlight Archive Arc 1 takes place between the two Mistborn eras
Wind and Truth mentions that Sazed is the ship of the Shards in Scadrial, and Rhythm of War revealed that Thaidakar was Kelsier, which means The Stormlight Archive without a doubt it happens later Born from the mists was 1. So, 300 years ago between Born from the mists eras 1 and 2. It is assumed that the majority The Stormlight Archive takes place at the end of this period, as after Wit/Hoid is removed from Roshar, he is transported to Scadrial, where he applies for a job as Waxillium Ladrian's carriage driver, establishing his role in Born from the mists was 2.
Another important detail, however, is that Iyatil is killed in Wind and Truth ending when Kelsier mentions her as still alive in The Lost Metal. This could mean that Shallan's final scene in Wind and Truth happens later Born from the mists era 2, while Hoid's final scene in Wind and Truth happens before Born from the mists was 2. That would mean The Stormlight Archive arc 2 and Born from the mists era 3 would happen at about the same time if ten years on Roshar were about 70-80 years on Scadrial.
