Confirmation, cast and everything we know

Growing from a teen drama to a full-fledged TV institution over its six seasons on the air thus far, All American is one of The CW’s biggest series and is set to return for Season 7. Starting in 2018, the sports drama follows Spencer James, a promising high school athlete who is recruited from South Crenshaw High to the prestigious Beverly Hills High School to play football. Over the course of the show, the story has grown and evolved as Spencer struggles with the culture shock of his new life while also balancing his complicated personal life off the battlefield.

Generally well received by critics from day one, All American was the crown jewel in the CW’s list of live-action shows that largely dominated the second half of the 2010s. Along with hits like Riverdale and The Flashthe green-branded network has become a benchmark for immersive TV drama series. In recent years, many of its most popular shows have been axed by the network, including ratings giants like hiker and the aforementioned Riverdale. Fortunately for longtime fans, All American is returning for a seventh season.

Fortunately, the CW wanted more sports drama.

Season 7 All-American Story

With Spencer gone, who takes center stage?

Jordan, Spencer and Olivia from All American

The focus will shift away from Spencer, but it likely won’t shift to Olivia, as she has also been demoted to guest status.

With Spencer in the NFL and the confirmation that Ezra will return in a guest-only role, Season 7 will be very different from its predecessors. Focus will shift away from Spencerbut it probably won’t transfer to Olivia since she’s also been demoted to guest status. Obviously, supporting characters like Layla and Coop will get more space, but their exact plots are unknown at this time.

The introduction of new characters in Season 7 suggests a trend toward new casting, as the next generation of All American characters could begin to replace the old guard. Season 7 is confirmed to introduce a new football coach at Beverly Hills High, as well as student athletes like Elijah M. Cooper’s Yasi at South Crenshaw High. Even with Spencer and Olivia taking a backseat, the series could find new momentum with new characters to explore.

The official Season 7 logline all but confirms this suspicion, reading:

“[All American season 7 brings the drama] back to where it all started: Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High. It’s the same heart, the same NFL dream, the same cross-town rivalry, the same confusing hormones, ushered in by a new generation of L.A. teens, a new coach from Beverly, and our OG Vortex family, who are surprised to discover that should be responsible. adults now.”
